Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games

Dear me. I’ll leave the thread to the experts

I do apologise for not being up on todays and all the other winners

I’ll take a watching brief from now . I just like watching sport
Wind your lip in Carty man, you have commented through this thread about some of the para events, remember the lad in the 100 metres who ran to his family at the end of the race? You were told several times there are para events from the off and liked the posts telling you.

I’m ok man. I have a poor memory at times and I really didn’t think the table was a combined one. I found that out tonight

I’ve learned my lesson though . Just enjoy the rest of the event .

The whole thing is brilliant to me

It has been a cracking tournament. Been blessed by perfect conditions and all the competitors have called out the crowds across the various events.

Credit to Brum, they’ve pulled this one out.

Over the years, I've made a point of finding out a bit more about the sports I get into through seeing them on telly.
It's a lot easier these days with that interweb thing too.

The Krankie Returns

Central Defender
Lad who lives 3 doors down from me in Millfield Kiaren McDonald is in the semis of the boxing (flyweight), fights for a silver at least on Sunday, haway the lad.
I watched one of the bouts yesterday. Australia v Zambia. I know nowt about boxing other than the opponents hit each other, but I thought Alex Winwood was wrong footed in the second round taking a punch that the referee ended the contest for and which to my untrained eye was a bit off. The galling thing was that he won the first round.
More importantly though he was a credit to himself, his country and his people when he was interviewed after his loss. Even in our so called equal society Aboriginal people are still a marginalised group at times but he was dignified in defeat and came across so well. He is a Noongar man who traditionally come from the Perth area of WA so it was honestly fantastic to see a local boy do well.
