Bilsdale mast

Where do you live
Did it work?

Someone asked me about it ages ago, but I didn't want to reply as I didn't have any experience with it
Yes like being back to the village I grew up in North West Durham. We are just off Junction 60 A1, but village before us has no Pontop reception, check url.

I'm SR2 and have had bot all bar a few flakey BBC channels and Channel 4 that are freezing and cutting off as much as they are on.

Watching iPlayer but by God if I have to sit through those shit red screen instrumentals every time the news cuts to look north much longer I'm going to put my foot through the telly.

Head gadgie just said on the news they are working "literally round the clock" to fix it.
Somehow I doubt they'll be working in the dark.

I used to live in Grangetown, very close to coast. I had my aeriel pointed to Bilsdale as (presumably) Tunstall Hill blocked the signal from Pontop.
My aeriel is pointed in exactly the same direction and I'm right near the coast as well. They're tossing it off mate, using every excuse in the book.

Boom! It’s gone.

Hadn't realised it was entirely unrepairable. Not sure why they can't just whack a new replacement in asap now then? Most of the trouble seems to have been that they're not allowed on other parts of the land - so why didn't they knock it down ages ago and get the thing replaced prono?
Rather than faffing with another temporary strucure next week.

I’d hazard it’s to do with the time needed to generate a up to date spec, RFQ then tender process.

The mast and internal gubbins will be old (with upgrades) but they should quite rightly take the opportunity to install new and modern equipment.

Take a look at the final frames of that video when the mast is on the moor. It’s not a small fabrication.

When did it burn though? Well over a month ago?
