Bilsdale mast

SAFCTEES

Midfield
There are still some areas across the tees valley without TV/Radio coverage. The mast caught fire on August 11.

Bit shit for the older generation who won't know how to access online services etc.

Doubt they'll get a refund either.

I live in Sunderland and get my coverage from Bilsdale, I'm guessing parts of Seaham and the Durham coast could be too. Last time I checked they were hoping to restore most of it by 28 August.

I'm in H/pool, and I now have 26 of the 70+ Freeview channels I usually receive.
Still plenty more channels to return, but whether they'll all return by the end of the month, is debatable.

I'm Sunderland and have had fuck all since it went up. Don't watch much normal telly like, so odds and sods on iplayer have done me, but i bet it is a right pain in the arse for older people not clued up on what has happened. I bet there's a load of cowboys out there charging a fortune to 'fix' knackered ariels by aiming them at pontop pike or something.

I had none yesterday. I think they erected an off site mast for now and hope to set up something at Bilsdale once they receive permission, it's a site of scientific interest apparently.

Aye, I heard something about temporary masts being set up.
My brother lives in the next street to me, and he still has no Freeview channels.

330m or so I think, its not like they can just knock another one up. Couldn't believe it when I heard it provided telly from Filey all the way to Seaham. Seems some in Sunderland too.

Its odd, when I was a kid Peterlee got their signal from Pontop Pike - Looking out of my window right now, and one house has its aerial pointing south, and the one next to it is pointing West - which is where Pontop is.
So it must still work - just need to spin the aerial.
.
Funny, its 22 miles to Pontop from here, and 33 to Bilsdale. But Bilsdale is a lot higher, so possibly a better signal.

Being close to the coast (SR2), most houses near me are pointing to Bilsdale, glad we have Virgin and aren't impacted.

Isn’t Bilsdale the repeater mast? As in the signal is transmitted north to Bilsdale then onto other local masts and that’s why outlying areas also don’t have TV signal?

Both Bilsdale and Pontop have local repeaters. They're listed on those 2 links.
I think that's how they're bringing services back up, by getting a different feed to the Bilsdale repeaters. I guess its not that far from an IPTV service!

Aye I'm sure they'll be fuming without 25% of their £15 for this month being refunded.
