Don't all managers like a lot of money to spend on transfers?! Bit strange if they didn't.

Of course they do. BFS just seems to have a lot more direct involvement in them.

You do know why he was sacked from the England job?

Even before he became a serious contender for the England job he was making plenty of noises suggesting that he wasn't happy with Short and the lack of progress in the transfer market.
In hindsight, he looks like he was right...Short did'nt back him when he said he would. Those players he had lined up would have made one hell of a difference.

No Sunderland Fan complained about his style of play
I did and always will.
Not a winner. Plays for a point the majority of time and never being relegated is not an achievement. He even admits not trying in certain games.
Totally overrated.
Add to that he should have had us safe far earlier than he did.
Glad to see the back of him.

Walking out of a preseason friendly half way through. Utter disrespect. I don't know why he gets off so lightly with our lot.

True. I know how much he wanted the England job and I have no problem with that. Someone at the club should have took hold of the situation as we were allowed to drift, the Hartlepool game with him standing in the tunnel and f***ing off at HT was an absolute piss take, it just highlighted a lack of respect and professionalism from him.

At the same time I think I can recall Eddie Howe wouldn't even speak to the FA till he had pre-season tour done.

He worked an absolute miracle with what he had at his disposal. Behave.

Can't complain about some results overall but it would have been 7 in a row against the mags if he wasn't so cautious, in fact the sixth was blighted by the fact in his need to play six feet plus strikers he had Fletcher up front and Toivonen who was an absolute passenger behind him. Even during the run in that year his obsession with six feet strikers saw Graham first play wide and then N'Doye playing a wide role, both who were absolute dross in the roles.

He did get us playing as a team mind, but the last performances against Chelsea and Everton put a much more positive spin on how we'd actually played.

Was absolutely no miracle. He done well and no more.

We lost one game (Leicester at home) in f***ing ages under him, who on earth complained about the style?:lol:

That home game against Everton. That should have been the start, we all thought it was the start of great things

Kone and Kaboul as a partnership were outstanding
We had Kirchoff and M'Vila in the middle
Defoe up top

The spine of the side had quality.

Then that twat came in and said we were in a relegation battle after the first home game (Boro). Should have been sacked for that comment
His record wasn’t exactly earth shattering.

You must have been over the moon with David Moyes then ffs

He was making his leaving excuses early in pre season, prior to the England approach saying we weren't getting the players in he wanted.
Was angling for a move imo.
think it was just usual trying to get the owner to cough up more money stuff though- Sam is a master at it unlike benitez.
ofc he would have fucked off in a heartbeat if palace offered him a better deal or a relatively bigger club like Everton came in- which is fair enough it's not like we wouldn't have sacked him on a heartbeat if it suited us (loyalty is worthless on football management tbf)

I think you’re right in citing the DoF experiments as being high up on the list as to how we became so bad, for me a manager should live or die by who *he* chooses to play for him.
dofs dont really sign first team players..not pften anyway..southamptons dof doesnt for sure..

I’m sure Moyes was missing something like 7 of Sam’s first 18 players like
tbf the only two I remember are kaboul and m'vila- and moyes got to spend 20 million to replace them
