Big Sam sticking with this who are going to fight

We've played 3 different ways in 3 games so far, so I think BSA now has to decide on a system and a first choice XI (with suitable replacements identified also - using Rodwell ahead of Larsson or Gomez was a startling decision yesterday and I think was him maybe getting a bit lost in the romantic "Rodwell going back to Everton" dream. The lad is chod and needs to be peddled

4-5-1 with a tight 3 in midfield and pace on the wings. Wingers who will track back and 1 central midfielder capable of getting in the box

Pantilimon
Yedlin O'Shea Kaboul Jones
Johnson Larsson M'Vila Gomez Borini
Fletcher

I think the Defoe/Fletcher link up is key to use getting goals so I'd drop Gomez and have Defoe in the hole/running off Fletcher.

Lens will definitely be in trouble. You can see already he doesn't want to be here.

Well he did come for Advocaat. And he doesn't look fit - but obviously there is a talented player in there - a bit like Sess - not the worst option on the bench to be honest.

That would mean that none of our biggest 5 transfers under the DoF system (Altidore, Giac, Rodwell, Alvarez and Lens - total cost around £37m plus god knows what in wages) could get into the starting 11.

Just astonishing...

like how we used to carry sessegnon? i'd much rather have a players with a much greater attacking threat capable of producing quality than a larsson type who looks like they are working tirelessly despite doing fuck all.
He didn't play out wide though. Whether people like it or no t his lack of effort out wide leaves us massively susceptible to 2 on 1 situations constantly

Funny you should mention Sessegnon as he came here initially as a winger but like Lens didn't want to track back. Ended up playing off the striker and was excellent.

Id like to see him utlise the diamond he did at West Ham last year with Defoe and Fletcher up top and Johnson in behind. Need good full backs for that system to work though.

I think Lens, PVA, Rodwell, Brown and Coates could all be in trouble in the short to medium term. BSA won't stand for people hiding or bottling it. He needs 11 warriors on the pitch from now until the end of the season.......
I dont think Brown's problem is bottle-he's just old and slow .

Wouldn't really argue with that team.

so essentially he's saying those who don't perform will lose their place, i.e. no one is guaranteed their place in the starting line up. watmore must be close to a start if he continues to impress off the bench, which would provide some needed competition to johnson and lens if they churn out performances where they either disappear or can't be arsed tracking back to defend. fletcher and defoe are looking a decent partnership up top tbh, i'd hesitate to break that up. our main problem is our full backs. i think sam has to go back to playing jones on the left and yedlin on the right in a four. in terms of polishing the turd defence we have i think he really needs to get both the back four and the central midfielders pressing. opposition attackers are getting far too much time on the ball especially in wide areas and just outside our penalty area. employing larrson in either of these areas may help as he seems to get to opposition players quicker than anyone else rather than hanging off.

@YoungSunEcho: Big Sam: “Those who are going to fight and produce performances that you want, I’m going to stick with those."

Said he has already started to make his mind up over players. Who do we reckon then?

Think Lens and PVA could be in trouble personally.

TAXI for Rodwell & Coates.

One of our biggest problems is that squad is awash with players that the current manager doesn't want

Same at every club when they change manager
