Comes to something when you can barely think of eleven players who try.

Even then, it probably means fuck all as the ones who try probably aren't good enough, but there we go.

I honestly think we need to look at our under 21's now and see which of them have the neck for a fight. Would much rather see Beadling in ahead of Brown, for example.

We've played 3 different ways in 3 games so far, so I think BSA now has to decide on a system and a first choice XI (with suitable replacements identified also - using Rodwell ahead of Larsson or Gomez was a startling decision yesterday and I think was him maybe getting a bit lost in the romantic "Rodwell going back to Everton" dream. The lad is chod and needs to be peddled

4-5-1 with a tight 3 in midfield and pace on the wings. Wingers who will track back and 1 central midfielder capable of getting in the box

Pantilimon
Yedlin O'Shea Kaboul Jones
Johnson Larsson M'Vila Gomez Borini
Fletcher
could we play defoe where gomez is?

What did we pay for lens, £10m? And he's dropped after 10 games, staggering.

Well he was meant to be focused on attacking too. That's the point in wing backs.

First Goal is probably Jones' fault for me

A spell on the bench might make Lens realise he needs to work harder to get back and help his team mates out if he wants to get in the team.

I wouldn't he is injured

I don't think that a lot of modern players are motivated by being in the team or not. Especially when an international tournament isn't imminent. He'll perhaps raise his game if he wants a transfer in January.

What I would've picked yesterday, obviously with Cattermole instead of Larsson

PVA comment from me came with seeing Sam moan about players not tracking back, PVA is terrible for that.

Absolutely.

That's what I was trying to say, I can see it, you can see it, Allardyce can see it, and probably countless other managers he's played for - yet he still doesn't track back. He must get hammered about this every week yet it doesn't seem to make any difference.

At work, or in any walk of life, if you have a weakness then you work on that to try and improve, I just don't get it with him, he shows absolutely no signs of improving in that department. Baffling.

I think we are all assuming that Lens will be peddled, but BSA isn't daft - he knows you need creativity to score goals and goals win football matches. Lens maybe needs the shock of being benched and forced to work on his fitness, but he can still be an important player for us - I don't think we can afford to ignore the talents of a player capable of scoring the goal he did against West Ham

Pantillimon - Manone must be near a recall mind based on recent displays.
Yedelin
O'Shea
Kaboul
Jones

M'Villa
Larsson
Gooch
Borini
Fletcher
AJ (if the player who turns up every time we play the Mags turns up) or Defoe

Watmore and Gooch must be given more of a chance - we're crying out for legs in midfield and both give us bags of energy.

@YoungSunEcho: Big Sam: “Those who are going to fight and produce performances that you want, I’m going to stick with those."

Said he has already started to make his mind up over players. Who do we reckon then?

Think Lens and PVA could be in trouble personally.

Lens is just struggling to adapt to the pace so far IMO. Far better players have came into far bigger teams and have had the same issue. Just look at Pedro at Chelse

So we're not putting a team out any more?

Face it - not one of these players fight consistently until the money is seriously under threat.

Going back to Rodwell again. Players have clubs over a barrel when their contracts are nearly up, due Bosman, freedom of movement etc. Why can't it work both ways ? If a player is constantly underperforming, looks disinterested and is always on the sick, then why can't the club rip his contract up and sack him. Just like the rest of us in the real world.
