"Bids lodged for players"

If Naismith is failing to look past players he's already worked with and Naismith is one of his targets you just know next season is going to be as bad as this one. Signing crap like Naismith has gotten us into the mess we are in the first place.

An average player, earning over the odds with no resale value.

Norwich are considering letting him go for free. They signed him for circa £9m a little over a year ago. It says it all really.

Very average.

At the end of the day, it's easier to look good in a team with Lukaku, Coleman, Barkley etc. in it. I think he's got a lot of stick off the Noteich fans and he's not a regular starter.

So is Naismith signing Naismith?

Dubious - looking at the current wages, adding in relegation clauses, and assuming that the aim will be to bring in players at less than 50% of the current average pay, I'd be thinking lower league targets who could possibly step up.
I'd certainly hope so - one of Shorty's problems is that he never chooses the common sense approach.

His past attempts at saving money include hiring his marra's son as Director of Football and spending nearly half of a £30m budget on Ndong

It's not glamorous but buying players with potential and selling them on is probably the only thing he hasn't tried

What do Norwich fans think of him?

Says they cannot afford his Premier wages

Also a few on there less than enamoured with him.
Yeah, but they spent a lot of money on him a little while ago - bigger expectation's
and they said he is a leader on the pitch

Nor can we. The last thing we need are more overpaid average players. Let him go to Rangers or wherever.
The team will need some experience up front without Defoe and Borini. Given they have been playing him all over the place it is no surprise his ratio is low

We need goals, we've been struggling to score, the last thing we need is a forward who struggles to contribute. Cheers.

We have to avoid the approach used in the past of

Getting bodies in

This usually means signing anyone who'll come on expensive contracts.

No signing is better than the wrong signing.

Spot on but you just know this won't change.

They kept him for the first season in the Championship but they're into their second one next season and they want his £5m (over 2 years) wage liabilities off their books. They must have omitted a relegation clause when they signed him and £50k is far too high to sustain in the Championship. For us however, we would be getting a player who should really have a transfer value (I'd argue around £3-5m) for nowt. He would also have to take a wage cut but maybe we could offer say £30k over three years. A total cost of £6m (Inc signing on fee) over that three years wouldn't be bad business imo. We do need a few players who are among the better players in that division if we are to mount a serious challenge for promotion.

The guy is a second striker and attacking midfielder. Your point makes no sense. He would not be signed as a main striker. You would probably scoff at Aiden McGeady too, even though he was just named Preston's player of the season

What makes no sense to me, is someone who doesn't support Sunderland coming on this board to defend every decision Moyes makes, knowing fine well that the fans who really actually care about the club want him out.

I'm surprised people have put up with you for as long as they have done.

Naismith is a very average, limited player. I accept we won't be able to attract top players next season but I'd like to think we can be more creative in the transfer market than having to rely on yet anothef ex Everton player who is almost past it.

Do you think he'd be a good signing?
