A19

A1/M1 Link Road
M62

Off the top of my head.

Not sure if the M62 is quickest from the A1/M1 link road, or just from the A1 at Ferrybridge.

The link road by miles.

I've probably done this drive 500 times over the years, A19/A1/M62/M60(S+E)/M56, about 2 hours 10 without traffic.

I would go the Stockport way (M60 S/E), personally.

I think that its quicker going via the Trafford Centre if there's no traffic. If your going to go the Stockport way its quicker leaving the M62 at the Oldham/Rochdale(M627) turn off and cutting through Chadderton then joining the M60.

There won't be more than 5 mins in it either way at that time anyway.

there's not a great deal of difference mate in terms of time.I was seeing a bird from shaw and have done that journey quite a few times.it's full of roundabouts and traffic lights etc
yes its shorter but it's easier going round.it's a bit like going around London on the 25 or trying to get across the city

A19, A1M, A1-M1 link, M62, M60 towards Ashton/Stockport from Jn 18, M56

2 hours.

That wont save you time at all. You will hit at least 5 sets of lights on the 627 at Broadway. Hardly have to break leaving the M62 for M60 towards Stockport.

You're brave..

Just out of interest is there still loads of roadworks on the A1(M) between Scotch Corner & Dishforth? - haven't been down that way this year!

Believe me mate, since they finished J18 off the M62 it's a few minutes quicker to use the M60 Stockport way. It's the route home for me and I've tried every which way numerous times.

Madchester Mackem has answered the Oldham question, 40 limit, speed cameras and traffic lights.
