Best song by 10 big British bands

Beatles - In My Life

Rolling Stones - maybe Let it Bleed but that could change in half an hour

Queen - I'd rather boil my head in Rolf Harris' piss than listen to Queen

Oasis - Rock n Roll Star

Blur - Sunday Sunday

The Cure - The Forest

The Smiths - There is a Light That Never Goes It

Joy Division - Prefer Blue Monday to anything by Joy Division, I would never call Joy Division big either

The Kinks - You Really Got Me

Fleetwood Mac - Never really bothered listening to anything by them

Bonus question Springsteen - can't stand the hypocritical named dullard

As it’s music night, which song for each band is your favourite:

Beatles - The long and winding road
Rolling Stones - Wild Horses
Queen - Somebody to love
Oasis - Stop crying your heart out
Blur - Beetlebum
The Cure - Just like heaven
The Smiths - There is a light that never goes out
Joy Division - The Eternal
The Kinks - Waterloo Sunset
Fleetwood Mac - Landslide

Bonus question Springsteen - Thunder Road
Joy Division big? Really?

Being arsey, The Who, Pistols, Clash & Jam should be ahead of, Queen, Cure, Joy Division & Fleetwood Mac

The Who - My Generation
Pistols - Pretty Vacant
Clash - White Man
Jam - Tubestation
Hmmmmm, I dinnar like.

Queen were, and really still are, pretty huge. The Cure still do big tours. And Fleetwood Mac were outselling The Beatles before even Christine Perfect rocked up. I do accept it's a tad contentious classing them as British these days, but they're by far and away the biggest band from that lot you mention. They've even outsold The Who.

Aye, well I was talking about biggest in my world. I know that wasn’t really the point like.

A more sensible Top 10:

The Beatles
Led Zeppelin
Pink Floyd
Queen
Rolling Stones
Fleetwood Mac
Coldplay
Dire Straits
Def Leppard
Genesis

Fair enough. I'd possibly have The Clash in my top 10 British bands like.
Beatles - Get back
Rolling Stones - Gimme shelter
Queen - Under pressure
Oasis - Slide away
Blur - Tender
The Cure - ???
The Smiths - There is a light that never goes out
Joy Division - ???
The Kinks - Waterloo Sunset
Fleetwood Mac - Go your own way
Just put two decent bands in instead.

Fleetwood Mac after Peter Green were dull but with Green "Oh Well" and "The Green Manalishi" are superb rock tracks.

I agree on Springsteen.

These are just ten great songs by ten great bands. Can't possibly pick a 'best'

The Beatles - In My Life
Rolling Stones - Beast of Burden
Black Sabbath - Into The Void
Led Zeppelin - How Many More Times
Free - Fire and Water
Pink Floyd - Time
The Kinks - Waterloo Sunset (this probably is their best.)
Deep Purple - Child In Time
Oasis - Champagne Supernova
Jethro Tull - Aqualung

And a very honourable mention to Irish heavyweights Thin Lizzy, who are one of the best bands ever. Today, we'll go with For Those Who Love To Live.

Beatles - I Am The Walrus (this week. too many to choose from)
Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter (this week. too many to choose from)
Queen - Radio Ga Ga
Oasis - I don't have a favourite Oasis song. I'll just listen to the Beatles and the Stones ;)
Blur - I don't have a favourite Blur song. I'll just listen to the Kinks and the Beatles ;)
The Cure - Lovesong
The Smiths - Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me
Joy Division - Regret
The Kinks - Waterloo Sunset
Fleetwood Mac -Oh Well

Bonus question Springsteen - There Goes My Miracle (this week. too many to choose from)

Plus:

Free - On My Way
Todd Rundgren - Parallel Lines (this week. too many to choose from)
Bob Dylan - Tangled Up In Blue (this week. too many to choose from)
The Band - Arcadian Driftwood (this week. too many to choose from)
James Taylor - Fire & Rain
Jackson Browne - Sky Blue & Black
Sex Pistols - Did You No Wrong
The Clash - London Calling
Cream - Badge
Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb
.
.
(Yes I realised my error with Joy Division. I'll say Love Will Tear Us Apart ... but I'm not a fan of Joy Division. Or of two or three other bands on the list tbh, but I'll play along
