I'm sure i've still got the documentary they done about this placeBe 'Sound-It-Out Records' in Stockton great place, visit it regularly. Always have some gems and can spend ages in there
Most have missed this post whIole asleep marra. There’s still time to beg the mods to delete it.Musicore in Durham was my first....bought War of the Worlds there jointly with my brother. I think the first one I bought my self was Deep Purple In Concert. It was a toss up between that and Angel Witch`s debut album and Deep Purple won as it was a double cassette.
Used to love going and looking at the import racks in Virgin Records and looking at the Japanese imports. I spent weeks going into that place slowly saving up pocket money and dinner money before getting Trying To Burn The Sun by Elf on Japanese import, featuring Ronnie James Dio for £8.99 (tons of money in those days where a double album was £4.99). Felt so proud getting that and even better when Dio himself signed it in silver pen at the City Hall on the Holy Diver tour. .
Volume and later Concepts were two I spent most of my weekends in or if on a big trip into Newcastle, then Pet Sounds....loved that place and I think there was a place around the corner from the train station near to Flip called Record Box.
Oooooooooh. Cheers marra. Looks like there’s finally a reason for going west of the A19!
I cane on this thread just to post that. Looks less biased coming from a non-Dundonian though!.Groucho's in Dundee, managed to get my musical appreciation and education there back in the day while at uni.
Wax Trax, was it above where the pickle is, opposite Cooper Rose?
What was that one in Newcastle, just off Northumberland Street, where they had them in first name alphabetical order?

I feel partly responsible for its downfall. I was a regular. They seemed good lads, so I asked them if they could any drum and bass records in. They got f***ing loads in, far more in than I could afford so it got a bit awkward when I only bought 6 or 7 of the 40 or so records they got in.yes upstairs maybe about 2002/03
reflex ?
reflex ?
There’s a stall in the market in market place sells vinyl but it’s very hit and miss re quality and selection.Any decent vinyl shops in and around Durham CC?
Is it still there?I loved Mister CD in Berwick St, that London, the basement section. It was where an awful lot of people in the industry offloaded their freebies, promos etc. You could go in with £20 and come out with 20 cd albums. A great way to discover new music for not much money.
I'm sure i've still got the documentary they done about this place
Definitely not Reflex. It was up a little side street on the right as you walk up Northumberland Streetyes upstairs maybe about 2002/03
