Best player you can say you saw live

George Best. Seen him a few times and he was ace.
Best individual performance I have seen was Alex Sabella for Sheffield Utd against Sunderland. He was on the losing side but his performance was astonishing,!

All the usual suspects really.
Henry at SOL
Bergkamp at Roker
However, the best performance was from someone totally unexpected, Willian for Chelsea at SOL a few seasons back, he was a joy to watch.

My greatest regret in football was that I never saw Cruyff play in the flesh
As a 9 year old watching my first proper World Cup in 1974 I was just blown away by the man
I've never seen a player take a tournament by the scruff of the neck the way that he did since then and yet Berti Vogts had him in his pocket for the majority of the final
I suppose you could say Maradona but he only really hit real form after the group stages

And this one won't go down very well on here, but as a football crazy young lad I was taken to several nufc games against what were the "big" teams in the late 60s like Man C., Man U, Arsenal, Liverpool, and the one player that always stood out was this big CF called Wyn Davies who seemed to win every aerial ball & knock it down for Pop Robson to have a shot. Quite unplayable.

I was also at that game, Sabella was amazing in that match so when there was talk of us signing him a few weeks later I was made up.

But typically nothing developed & I think he went to Leeds.

His wife allegedly came to Sunderland and after a brief look around told Sabella to look elsewhere

Do you remember the snowstorm at that Sheff Utd game that some people are convinced took place ??

Len Shackletton
Jimmy Baxter
Stan Anderson
Kevin Phillips (disgracefully ignored)

You asked "watch". I watched them.
I was at Wembley the day Baxter destroyed England, saw Shack play but the memory fades a bit. Posters are mentioning Best but I cannot remember him having a outstanding game against us home or away.
Bobby Park of Sunderland was one of the best footballers I have seen as was Bobby Moore but seeing as the OP asks for one I will go with Baxter.

My favs that I've seen in the flesh in no particular order:

Kenny Daglish
Davie Cooper (Glasgow Rangers)
Thierry Henry
Kevin Phillips
Zlatan Ibrahimovich (at Ajax)

I've seen the likes of George Best when he was at the end of his career (Fulham) so can't class him as the best I've ever seen as he was a shadow of his former self then.

The one player I wish I'd see live is Andrea Prilo. A wonderful footballer.

It that the 6-2 (Rostron hat trick)? I was in the Fulwell end that day. I can't remember any snow like.
