Great piece of subtlety when Mickey Rourke takes Kim B out shopping in 9 1/2 Weeks. She’s trying on a short-skirted suit posing and pouting in front of the mirror while he’s at the till reeling off a bunch of notes from his was of cash to pay for it. She asks “aren’t you going to ask if I like it?” and he just smiles his trade mark enigmatic smile and shakes his head, as if half saying “it’s obvious you like it by the way you’re posing” but in reality it’s more a case of “I’m buying it and your opinion doesn’t even count!”
