Echobelly at Middlesbrough Town hall (1996) were excellent
Saw them twice within about a month , firstly at Middlesbrough Town hall, then at Newcastle arena.Pulp/Cocker must be worth a mention.

The boro gig was far better IMO - possibly cos it was a smaller venue - really good sound and atmosphere
He played the small stage at the Sage a couple of year back, just him guitar and harmonica and I could have had tickets on the day - really regret not going.R
Roger McGuinn in Shields! Wtf? Muhammad Ali, Joolio Arca and now Roger McGuinn! They can’t all of been lost!
Sorry like but it's shite. I've never got the wankfest around Joe Cocker, he's just a one song, hoarse chancer. There must have been many bands/artists who have put on brilliant live shows over the years.
Live to me means just that, not pre recorded loops "played" by non musicians - sorry to Depeche Mode advocates but whereas I loved their sound it could never be described as "live".
Having said that there were, probably, more at Woodstock than anywhere else, before or since.
If, instead, the thread title was changed to "Best live track ever?" I think it would be hard to argue against this one.
For a (then) little known singer to take a well known Beatles song and make it his own takes some beating.
I saw him twice a couple of years ago on his Songs In The Key of Life tour. The very reason I’d love to see Stevie Wonder. I love a lot of his stuff but the vast majority has been shite......but they reckon the place goes wild.

Saw Pulp at Leeds festival a few years back. Jarvis waffles on far too much in between songs.Pulp/Cocker must be worth a mention.
Joe cocker was a massive fan of alcohol too
One of the best rock songs I've heard by anyone is " When The Night Comes" by Joe Cocker. Some proper shite being posted on here mind
