Best football I’ve seen

I hope that when the new Head Coach comes in he plays a similar style of football as the last year, as it has been some of the best football I’ve seen from a Sunderland team the knars
Not sure i agree. We've got some of the best players we've had in years and they're playing very well. Think we need a bit more variety in style as we're quite one dimension.

How many shots per game do we have that aren't cut in from diagonal into the box and have a shot with very little or no pressure on the six yard box? Often nobody else in the box.

I think there is a happy medium to be found. We have been more pragmatic and at times a wee bit more direct under Dodds. That has reaped rewards, I don't believe you can only subscribe to a single method/style of play - the best teams know when to mix it up. I'd suggest we would have beaten Plymouth & Huddersfield with Dodds in charge (or at least playing in this manner)

We still played some lovely stuff last night, but we also knew when to drop off, when to block, when to go a bit longer.

The long cross field ball from Clarke to Roberts was sublime, reminded me of Paul Bracewell.

I think all of the parts are there but a clinical striker.

We’re top of the league with touches inside the opposition box.

Id agree, although being greedy i still don't think 09 is a top quality centre back.

But how many of those touches are players dribbling into the box onto their stronger foot with little to no pressure centrally? As you say, a CF fixes this and its frustrating that rusyn and mayenda don't seem to be given a chance to show they can be that.

Agree with OP. Suprised how resilient we were v Leeds as didn’t think we had it in us and could only go one way…. Suppose it depends on the personnel available but There’ll be a few clubs looking at a few of our players, contract are long so if and when anyone goes it’s going to be canny money. Even more Recently the likes of Huggins and Hume seems to be improving at a rate of knots and already would go for more than paid. Without stating the obvious there’s a massive weak link which (unbelievably really) we seem to be able to cope with. Replace with gambles or replace with quality? Bit of both is a must…

At least Dodds has brought some variation to our game. As much as the football we played under TM was easy on the eye, it lacked that variation. Opposition teams had learned what to expect and set up for it.
Agreed

Yeah i was going to add that I reckon most of the touches were Clarke cutting in

Couldn’t agree more.

It was good stuff like buy we were definitely helped by Leeds having the similar open door policy in Midfield as we do. I was praying one of those Yellows wasn't going to become a red cos I knew if it did they'd compress and sit back and we wouldn't get through nearly as easily

The football is good but it needs a figurehead upfront , who will finish off chances and we can then kill teams off which often we fail to do
