Best decade to live through?

In your opinion.. any decade/place throughout history as an average person.

Personally, I’d lean towards the 90’s, I feel we had a good balance of modern conveniences without them taking over our lives/personalities the way they do now.

I often get caught in the trap of romanticising about past eras, however, the thought of minor infections being a big problem, everyone stinking and having worms puts me off.

I enjoyed teenage years during the 00s. Best of both worlds to some extent.

Social media starting to come in towards the end but not taking over people's lives.

Decent indie music still coming out despite everybody saying it was shite compared to the 90s at the time.

I guess you can only go off what you experienced.

I’d say the same as the OP, I loved my childhood as I spent it just being a kid and totally oblivious to the adult world. Kids now are exposed to stuff far too young through things like TikTok. I can remember only having so long to spend on the internet, having to log off if mam wanted to use the house phone etc…

Agree with this, I used to play mega drive etc but the games weren't as accessible unless my mum found one at the car boot! And even then they were pretty shit. Despite liking games back then I still loved playing footy with mates and going out on bikes etc.

My kids can't think of anything better than staying in all weekend playing xbox and their tablets. They have endless games to play. It's a fight to get them out alot of the time.

I remember I got my first console in 1997 (or 98?) it was a n64 and I got goldeneye with it, I only ever got a game for birthday and for Xmas. I’m glad it was that way. I spent most my days playing footy out the front, we used to make our own trophies out of cardboard and tin foil etc.

I used to kick a ball against the front wall on my tod for hours.

I'm a bit disappointed we have fallen into this routine to be honest.

Did you ever used to get string as well and tie them to car wingmirrors as a net when Wimbledon used to be on and you always had some crappy tennis racket lying around what would come out once a year when Wimbledon was on.

We used to play in between the garages out the back, you had 2 sets that faced each other about 3-4 car widths so we’d tie string to opposing garages and do it that way - same principal though. We’d move the string higher up if we played badminton .
