Remi Matthews and Ben Alnwick?

Thank god someone has mentioned Remi Mathews. We didn't see much of him but what he did see he was a calamity waiting to happen.

As for Ben Alnwick, I think he's judged harshly and for various reasons. But if you were there in the last home game of the 04/05 season when we were already 1-0 down to Leicester whilst chasing the win to go up, you'll know he made some absolutely superb saves that were fundamental to us clinching promotion and (subsequently) the title.

Also judged very harshly and unfairly - Burge.

But the worst in my near 50 years of watching the lads?? Lee Camp, without a shadow of a doubt.

Based on being first choice and playing a few games the worst are definitely Camp and Steele. McDonagh very close. Best three is trickier as we’ve had some very good keepers. Sorensen, Gordon and Pickford probably my top three but decent arguments for Turner, Poom and mignolet could be made.
Forgot Matthews, didn’t play many but was here as genuine competition for first choice and was very poor.

I always struggle to rate keepers on their own as it can depend a lot on the teams they played in. I mean take Sorrenson as an example, imagine him playing in our lowest point total seasons. Would he have made a difference.

Not sure how anyone can say Gordon like. He was average at best and always got beat at his near post. But, I guess one save makes him class

Worst: Tony Coton just for his time here as Donald’s best mate and hero

The best I’ve seen - Tommy Sorensen, poom was also a favourite of mine.

Worst - Lee Camp, without a shadow of a doubt the undisputed worst followed closely by Ruiter (don’t think I ever seen him save anything), Steele and Davis.

Gordon was good, but people thought he should keep a clean sheet every week because he cost a fortune.

Yes, he would have made a difference.

Monty will always be the best for me.
The worst? I’ll tell you when I stop shuddering.
Loads of candidates.

Hesford liked his beer,I recall him playing for us at Huddersfield midweek game and he was still living at Hillsborough,we drove straight back after the game and he was in the Park hotel before us..

I enjoyed Barry siddall who could pul out the odd world class save. One at Wrexham from a Dixie McNeill header in particular

Monty of course and iirc Chris turner holds the most consecutive clean sheets

The worst have all been listed

He liked sausages as well, as I sold three pound in weight to him once

As a bairn in the Roker End I remember Hesford arguing with a fan while a corner was coming into the box🤣
Loved Tony Norman as a kid but Sorensen was superb. It goes without saying Camp was the worst
