Striker
This is obviously going to be a hot topic of the week, do we drop Welbeck or should we leave him in the side that battered the league leaders and have Bent on the bench.

For me, why changed when it not broken.Yes Bentys a class striker, top goal score at the minute and had a quality season last season but surely we have to give Welbeck the credit he deserves for his last performance and reward him with another start and also help ease Bent back into the team.

So more then likely on Monday we will be playing 4-4-2 . Who do people want to see start up from with Gyan and why?

Bent is our best striker. When he's fit he plays.

Welbeck has had one good game so far and people want to drop a 25 goal a season striker. Strength in depth is good, but people are getting a bit ahead of themselves.

Got to be Bent , he's our number one striker the same as Gordon is our number one keeper . Always play your best players when fit.
Welbeck's time will come same as Mingolet , except Welbecks time may eventualy be at Man U.

Lessons from the Newcastle game, have we learnt any?

How fit is he going to be, yes I agree when his fit he plays but his been out with a hamstring injury which is one of them that could easily return to fuck him. Fair enough he has trained to training and playing a competitive match where tackles will be put in on him are two different things, I just feel with the games we got coming up at home ie WHU WIGAN BLACKBURN BOLTON, all game you should be looking to take 3 points from, why risk it when we have a hungry talent willing to impress.

Am not saying he shouldn't take any part in Mondays match but just maybe not start him.

I wouldnt say people are getting ahead of themselves RE:welbeck, hes a exciting young talent which took the piss out of chelsea( weaken team blah blah blah) but to still to do that at 19 is impress, have to say I feel much more comfortable with him been in the team after that display then I did before.

Welbeck has a hammy injury too though.

Bent everytime, i'd even drop Gyan to accomodate Bent.

I love Benty but there's no way I'd drop a healthy Gyan for Bent. Based on world cup and early Sunderland form Gyan is significantly better than even Bent (who is of course still MINT!) And by the looks of it Gyan has got a good attitude as well.

Anyway, I'm praying that Bent and Gyan can form a great partnership, which will render the whole question moot and will also be LETHAL!

Do we know how bad? Welbeck not our player and has much as I don't want to see any player suffer an injury I would rather the hamstring injury return to Welbeck rather then Bent who is our player and one of our main striker...

Y not go 4-3-3 and have a real go at everton?

Our confidence will be pretty high from sunday and we looked really good going forward so I don't see why we just cant play the 3 of them up front?

Gordon
Onouha Turner Bramble Bardsley
Zenden Cattermole Henderson
Gyan Bent Welbeck

i can't see bent starting if yesterday was his first day back in training. i'd expect wellbeck to start in a 4-4-2 with bent on the bench at best.

he does look ridiculously class like, but still... Bent must play when fit.

Everton have a pretty nifty midfield IMO, well better then ours anyway... we'd be over-ran.

Maybe its something Bruce could do in last 25-20 mins if it still 0-0 as Everton would be more happy with a draw then us ( been at home and that ) also bentys gets his run out ...everyone's a winner:)

i completely agree sargentq. if u dont have bent fully fit for the "easier" games then that is a gamble, as good as we are playing at the minute. let welbeck start up top with gyan nd then introduce bent with 30 mins to go. we need both of them fit bcos gyan cant score every game, and vice versa

If Benty is 100% fit, he has to play for me. He's the best natural goalscorer we've had since Super Kev. And I'm desperate to see him and Gyan play together, they could be lethal.

Having said that, if benty's not 100%, then I'd have no qualms starting Welbeck after his performance on Sunday and have benty on the bench.

This just shows where the club is at now, having two world class strikers and an excelling young talent all fighting for places....:) nice change

I think Gyan could take his crown.... the finish againest stoke where he hit first time for his second was quality so was the one he tucked away at spurs with his first touch and the chelsea finish ...well just:eek:

Bruce won't drop Welbeck or Gyan after Chelsea, unless injured. Nor should he. Doesn't matter who's on the bench.

It's class having these problems now. :-D Shows how far we've progressed as a football club like! Before we were having debates over Kyle, Brown and Stephen Elliott
