Could also try the 4231.

Henderson Cattermole
Campbell Gyan Welbeck

Wouldn't want 3 up front. Just thinking of Welbeck playing in behind the front two. But agree with sticking to 4-4-2 as it is working for us.

your proposed system allows us to play with 3 triangles and i think we would be very good at doing that. also allows two full backs to get forward and we have two who like to get forward as well.

I'm just not sure Welbeck's good enough to justify it tbh, he's played very well some games, and was brilliant vs Chelsea, but he's looked very ordinary at other times too, if you're going to build a team around a player like that then they should be a bit better than he is at the minute imo.

or show that his perforamnce in the Chelsea game wasn't a one off - to do that he would need to play a suggested or up front as part of a 2.

tbf how good is that you can look at different systems and pick a team from 14 or 15 players with 6 or 7 certs

Absolutely, the fact that we're arguing about how to fit another centre forward into the team along with two who've score 14 between them so far this year is pretty good. A couple of judicious signings in January and keeping everyone fit, this could be a good year like. And, of course, hoping that Bent and Gyan can develop a real partnership.

I'd play the same team as on Sun. Bent on bench. Give him a bit more time and if you need him, he's there.

Could work quite well.

Against a top half team who is good at counter attacking, say Spurs or Villa, we would get over run in midfield. It could be a great option against the lesser teams, especially at home. Perhaps not for the full game, but if we are not 2 or more up with 35 mins to go, throw on the extra forward and pile on the pressure.

The movement and physical presence of Welbeck and Gyan will pull defences all over the place, creating space for Bent. Onouha and Henderson will exploit those spaces and play the balls through to Bent. It could work very well.

Or just go 4-2-4 when everyone is back fit.

I reckon we could get away with playing this against some weaker teams

You can see why we get so many penalties, our 4 strikers must be amongst the fastest in the league.
