Benks spent time yesterday speaking to supporters at the game and was saying he's decided not to have the op for now and feels good enough to play

He'll travel with the squad to Somerset this week.

Great news if it works out, and proves why the lads rate him so highly as an inspiration.

BBC Sport confirming he has put the operation off.

I spoke to him last week and he has one more season left after this one. He gave no indication that he will retire at the end of this season.

Clearly everything at the club is up for grabs. The club has no money, loads of players including the likes of Stokes have their contracts up in 2013 so it will be a vastly overhauled club in 2014.

Who knows what will happen.

It seems Benks was a bit optimistic in hoping he could continue playing without an op. After yesterday's run out in the 2s it looks like he's having the op after all.

It's probably for the best as playing on could have damaged his shoulder beyond repair.
