Dunno but I'm hoping to winSounds like a good game - What's the prize?
Spotted thanks .Might start up Leamside end and take that bridge in tooBefore that, it’s literally just before the road snakes round to/from the A690. There’s only about 10 parking spaces there. Sometimes go for a stroll there on my dinner.
It’s called Durham river walk car park spot on google maps.
Some great stuff around us when you look a bitLooking at the OS map again, the footpath west goes into Durham itself. You could park near the passport office (there’s a few car parks around that area) and have a slightly longer walk along the river and to the viaduct.
- oooh a chomp.
I keep within and stick to the Government rules me owld pal.
Like you and everyone else should.
Ideal this I had no idea about getting onto the river from there. Had a walk down there this morning after reading this thread. Just got back home. I'm always looking for new places to go so cheers. There’s a little car park just off the bend from the road from the A690, you can have a canny walk in the woodland along the riverbank from there.
From car park if you went down into the woods and followed the river you would have reached it, eventually... A much more scenic route.Got there in a fashion ,path from car park just seemed to follow road
Loads of clarts
Cut at right angle across field and picked up path leading down to river
4 young deer sprinted across 300 yards in front of us
Following route along bank and it became a dead end
Little gang of walkers scratching heads
Picked another path further up bank
Decided to scale hill to top of bridge ,very slippy and dangerous
Got to top and no access to fields
Eventually found a way over barbed wire using a telegraph pole
Two barbed fences later we got back to route
Couldn't see an obvious route other than the obvious path following roadFrom car park if you went down into the woods and followed the river you would have reached it, eventually... A much more scenic route.
It was clarty! I was there across the fields on Saturday, and into the woods into Durham.
Lucky to spot the deer.
The land owners at the carrville side certainly dont want you anywhere near that end of it judging by the prison quality security fencing
