Bekovic made contact with the ball before Fletcher, if the boot was on the other foot so too speak ( IE Mannone on Crouch) I would have been extremely annoyed if Mannone had decided not decided to attack ball.

I reckon ref was probably correct but Im not sure of rules
yet in the context of the game in which the ref set the standards it was dangerous play. No argument

My Missus is not sure of the rules either but I've shown her both challenges and said one got a red card and asked her to tell me which one, the silly mare picked the wrong one

that argument didn't seem to help brown however

Maybe, as it was inside the penalty area, the goalkeeper should have used his hands instead of flying in high with his studs up?

I don't profess to know the rules either but i am pretty sure you can not challenge like that anywhere on the pitch, whether you are a keeper or not. If any player had made that challenge outside the box, it would have been a free kick, whether he gets the ball or not. Would you not agree?

Happens all the time, studs up challenges result in free kicks. Unless the rules do actually state that keepers are allowed to challenge like this or studs up challenges are allowed in the box. Again, i am fairly sure this is not the case

He also hits the ball with the sole of his foot, how can anyone argue that isn't "studs showing" anyone but a goalkeeper and he's be banned beyond the usual three.

They suggested on the commentary that he didn't want to give a penalty and red card the keeper as he won the ball so he let it go completely.

If that happened in the centre circle with two outfield players there would be absolute hell on. Goalkeepers are not subject to different rules apart from the use of the hands.

It's looks like that Sunderland are being punished, possibly for hiring Paolo, they want us relegated.

If this were any other sport or any other team even, there would be an inquiry into the decisions that have gone against us.

Maybe relegation wouldn't be such a bad thing, clear out the dead wood, come back up stronger etc.. but the fact is that our club should not be in this situation. We should be pushing the top 10 yet here we are, being screwed out of matches and looking more and more doomed as the season progresses.

Hopefully we can pull a run of games together and save this season but with refereeing performances like today, Arsenal and Hull, I can't see how we have a fighting chance.

FWIW, i do think it would have been a definite red if Fletch hadn't ducked out of it, he'd have hit him full force and probably not even won the ball......not that I'm saying I blame him, he'd have been absolutely pole-axed.

Brown didn't make contact with the ball before Adam.

Brown simply made contact with the ball.

totally agree.

on the fletcher one, if fletcher hadn't pulled out he could have been killed ffs, it would have been a studs first karate kick to the head, as it was luckily it only caught him in the shoulder he dislocated recently.

i dont know whether its got to the point its funny, if its past that, or if its so far past that and out the other side it's funny again but we are seriously getting fucked over in every game so far this season
