Beer Prices

I'm not exactly thrilled about it, but the higher prices are a sign of the times I guess.

But there are always cheaper options out there, I went out to watch the footy with the eldest on Saturday and don't think a pint and a half round much more than £6 in any of the places we were in (Sports bar, Victors, Chaplins etc)

Was in Newcastle on Thursday, £5 a Veltins in Newcastle Tap vs. almost £8 a pint at the Arena, nowt I didn't expect.....didn't like the Arena prices, but like all venues, it's hardly a secret and neebody had a gun to my head forcing me to buy it.

Was in York and Leeds the other week, Trembling Madness etc about £6.50 for Deya, North Bar about the same for something decent, but there's a plethora of cheaper options as there is in all cities.

People love a good whinge.....want to go to the nicer places, then moan they pay the higher prices like it's a shock.

Just gan out, stay in your lane budget wise and enjoy it.

Just going on what a mate was saying after being there in Jan
The tourist websites say it's cheaper so not sure what to expect

I was there about 4 years ago & the cafe over the road we were paying 7 euro a pint. But they also did a 5 euro happy hour around 5pm

This is it like. Mind it would be nice if every now and again our lass just fancied a half of lager. She probably takes up two thirds of the nightly spend just cos she's on Prosecco. Even when it's a lager it'll be a bottle of Peroni or whatever. She's shan as when I think about it like.

It’s not the 70’s anymore lasses don’t sitting nursing a half of lager 😂

What is stopping her paying for her own drinks or get a round in herself ?

Nothing would make me drink Carling.

You need to switch to draught ales. Usually cheaper than fizzy lager pop. And tastes better too.
Carling from the tap is nice. Very drinkable & if it's the difference on 90 cent a pint, I won't complain.

We're being shafted in every way imagineable. Before, I would get 24 cans of Heineken for €24. Sometimes even €20. I went to the shop on Saturday to pick up a few beers. €21 for 10 cans of Heineken.

:) a small price to pay for happiness I would argue!

Wine mark-ups can be scary like, I daren't check online prices vs. what we've just paid for a bottle, for fear of gannin acka like Michael Douglas in Falling Down.

£14.50 for two pints of Asahi in a Fuller's chain pub in The City last month.

Pushing £6 a pint in Newcastle city centre.

It's turning into an expensive hobby.

I'm lucky mines not a big drinker. She'll tends to get a cocktail or flavoured gin, but I'm on my 4th pint by the time she wants another.

Don’t recall the prices being too bad where we went round London Bridge on Saturday, I wasn’t taking a huge amount of notice when it was my turn to pay like but a quick look at me banking app shows rounds of 3 pints were coming out at approx the £17 mark so £5 odd each, but that included a couple of ‘fancy’ premium lagers like your Camdens, Brooklyn and another one that I can’t remember the name of so the bog standard ones were probably a bit less.

Backs up what I said on here a while ago that I feel like London’s beer prices have stagnated over the years while the rest of the country has caught up quite a bit because I can think of a few pubs in Sunderland and even Washington where the cost of 3 pints would be around about the same £17 mark, and there’ll be loads in Newcastle where that would be the case.

Places like Wetherspoons will just benefit even more. Still staggers me how cheap a round of sometimes up to 7 pints costs us in the Cooper Rose on a matchday compared to what it used to in Fitzies.

I thought the same about the missus til she pointed out I tend to have 2 pints to each of her drinks
