Beer Prices

It doesn’t seem to be the price of the beer itself that’s the issue, it’s the cost and desired profit to serve it. Even if cost pints are going up 10-30%, it’s still pennies and the bulk of these huge increases must be due to pub overheads, wages and potentially lots more profit…

isnt this an urban myth?
Maybe it is. I'm not saying it is their whole business model for ale. But it would make sense if they do it with some ales. They are one of only a few large chains that constantly change their beers, that have the logistics to shift it and outlets and clients to drink it in a shorter than desired timescale.

Mind you, WMCs weren't bastions of equality either. In ours, the front bar was men only - women were only allowed in the bingo hall and lounge bar and they weren't allowed to use the pool table.

Same in mine. I remember when a refurb took place and the Ladies Darts team had to use the bar area to play Darts, old blokes were literally walking in, saw what was going on , then walking out in disgust. Hard to imagine now, mind you the club doesn't exist now, demolished, which probably tells you more about how things have changed in the last 25 years or so.

Folk must be racking up debt continuing to go out and drink pints at these stupid prices; I don't blame them either, people need to go out and let off steam, but the price hikes since covid started are f***ing nuts. I remember going to a place in the lakes just before lockdown started, £4.50 for a san miguel - back after covid 18 months later and was £6.90.

Obviously not just beer, everything. The place for that pint had stuck £30 on a night and all the lakes places had - same all over the country. £7 a pint in london ffs.

Blatant profiteering imo, local places here are up pence not pounds.
