If you are planning to dig a big hole, they’re not much use. If you’re having a cold pint in a warm pub, they’re pretty useful.

We had an excellent beer mat fight in our local one Saturday afternoon.

The group joker then tore a ‘V’ shape in one mat when we weren’t looking, he placed it over the bridge of his nose and then shouted “whoever threw this is ‘avin’ it”. How we all chortled.

Edit: this really happened but it took 7 minutes to type.

I have a feeling that the group joker wasn’t being original then, but it was in the early 90s and we didn’t have the interweb.

When people were really bored in a pub (we’d often be in for hours) they would place a beer mat on the edge of a table, flip it and try to catch it.

I think 9 is my best. However I stopped beer mat flipping by the time I was about 20.
