Beckham documentary

remember one of the first games after the sarong when he came to take a corner.
One of the oppo fans had one on and was blowing him kisses and he clocked it and pissed himself laughing

the way i look at that sending off is that he knows it probably cost him a potential winners medal.
as much as we were pissed off about it, i can't imagine how that felt for him.

And lets face it he more than redeemed himself
i've rarely seen one player carry a team as much as he did in that Greece game

The footage in the documentary is properly edited mind. It’s proper Roy of the Rovers stuff and they make out as if it was his driving run that won the free kick for the equaliser (which was a peach by the way) it was actually Sheringham being fouled iirc and the one on Beckham was one of several he skied.

I can't get my head around why celebrities as big as the Beckhams entertain documentaries like this. They've got all the money in the world, the lifestyle to match, and spend majority of their lives in the public eye. The only privacy they have is between the walls of their own home. Why would you then agree to document that to the whole world as well!?

Yes, i know they'll have been offered a crazy amount of money, but surely that extra cash makes no difference to them at all when you factor in their other earnings. Pure greed has well and truly taken over
The 'Beckham' brand has been curated to the Nth degree from young age. Their whole personas and marriage is heavily media sculpted. As others have alluded to in the thread, there's a decent amount of press rumours about both of them that have never managed to quite make the front pages.

This sort of doc is just to keep the Beckham brand front and centre in people's minds to allow whatever the next commercial project they have to succeed.

Watched all of them last night. Thoroughly enjoyed them but was Giggs left out due to the charges at that time. But wash a great player he was just a shame he didn’t hit the heights elsewhere.

His voice irritates me so I might swerve it. Always comes across thick as mince but he’s done very well for himself. Was a good footballer, but the Beckham brand does nowt for me.

Watched the first one last night and really enjoyed it as a bit of nineties nostalgia. Playing footage could be better - a lot of it is just Beckham knocking in corners. And the production could have been jazzed up with more music, and the mystery interviewer is unnecessary. Gary Neville comes over really well, as do Ince, Sir Alex and Keane. Interesting to see the way the game was changing around that time. Not sure how they're going to drag 4 episodes out of it mind.
Interesting to see so many people I'd completely forgotten about. Anderton, LeSaux, Sherringham etc.
Don't mind Beckham. Seems nice enough and is laid back. I find Victoria annoying. They both seem a bit childlike really. Can't see how someone who's lived such an interesting life has got so few insights to offer and seems so unaware of everything.
A lot of the victim stuff is coming from others rather than Beckham himself, but it was probably set up that way. But the media reaction to the sending-off was well over the top.
Will hopefully finish it off tonight.

Just watched the first episode, canny watch so far as a teen at the time I remember how mental the whole Beckham thing was. Watching that sending off how soft man and Simone should've been ashamed of himself the way he went down. Hoddle well and truly tossed him under the bus mind afterwards, hoddle was a bit of a shit manager like man management wise a fair few players have said so and the whole spiritual stuff bit of a strange bloke. Good watch it's on Netflix.
It’s actually brilliant .

Our lass (no) has got it on at the moment.

Posh is whining about moving to LA and being settled with the family and then Beckham saying he was going to Milan and it upset her.

It’s a hard life…

He didn’t just entertain it, it was his idea!!! He’s been hawking it around for ages and finally became “friends” with the yank actor/producer bloke who he persuaded to make it. As others have said, it’s all part of promoting ‘brand Beckham’, hoping to rehabilitate his reputation after the Qatar affair and maintain his plan for a knighthood and ‘National Treasure’ status.

Watched a few episodes last night.
The thing that stood out for me was that Posh decided to phone and tell him that she was pregnant the night before that game.
The biggest game in his England career and she couldn’t wait till after it to share the news ?
