People could try supporting the team
Christmas is a time to spend with family and friends. It's also a very expensive time of year. Why should people give up their time and money to go to a League One football match? Will Stewart Donald bother his arse to go? Will Juan Santori be going?

Maybe if the club cared about it's supporters as much as they care about getting their money then they will go. Until then people have every right to go and do more important things with their time and money and enjoy their Christmas.

Expensive time of the year people don't need to make excuses, i will be going long after Donald etc have left

Same, mine and the bairns seats will be empty, going to spend the day with the family rather than waste my time with that shower of shite.

Think Boxing Day is a great opportunity to show the owners how we feel.
I agree. The contrast from this year to last Boxing Day will speak volumes.

Absolutely no chance the club will get over 40k in Boxing Day if this muppet is still in charge.
No chance.
I think apathy has really set in amongst supporters now. There are usually 6 of us who go to games together. None of us have been since October (for a variety of reasons) and I'm not sure when we'll be back. We've loosely agreed to have a few pints before the game this Sat, but am now starting to consider just making it "a few pints" and sacking off the football

Went last year and even though the football was pretty shit and we rode our luck, the large crowd made it an occasion. This year a good many are going to need to be dragged there. FFS this club is just so rarely heading in the right direction. 😬

It's inevitable gates are going to fall. Mid table mediocrity and potentially a battle to stay up in division 3 is not what fans were expecting.

Agree. But if everyone thought the same and we go down to a skeleton fanbase.. that will probably be that.

Thankfully I think we have a hardened 15-20K which should keep it going at least

There won't be anyway, there's been no massive campaign from the club to get people there. And there doesn't really seem to be any will from the fans to go. The roker report soup kitchen/food bank fundraiser will have certainly taken a large chuck of money away from the 'Gift of football'
They will be lucky to get over 30k people actually there.

Boxing Day has traditionally always been a massive football attendance day in the land regardless of teams positions.

Yeah I know but if I'm watching it in the pub I won't have the choice.
Could be one of those days where there is a different game on every TV.

Not sure which of these I'd want to watch at 3pm

  • Aston Villa15:00Norwich City
  • AFC Bournemouth15:00Arsenal
