BBC exposes staggering growth of racism

When you have people twisting about changing this and changing that in a country in which they or their family have chosen to come to I think it’s more than reasonable to say ‘go back to where you cafrom’.

Come here and adapt to an English way of life and there’s no problem.

I have zero interest in a multi cultural society. If somebody has something to offer the country then happy days, if not I see very little purpose in them being here.
Ok you've finally earned an ignore from me

At the risk as coming across as a bigot/racist, I respectfully oppose what is being printed in said media and what is said day to day. I believe there is difference between “below par banter” and racism. People form all walks of life will say things that are in today’s age deemed racist which I personally don’t believe is the case. People are offended by anything these days which has went from a liberal point of view to an everyday point of view. Black, Asian, mixed race and white people all have something to say about each other and always will in my opinion. In my mind true racism is when said person from said ethnic background is physically abused or emotionally oppressed because of the colouring said mans skin which is in every way of life wrong on every level. I personally just hope that people one day may have true freedom of speech without offending each other with every other word as I feel is the case in modern society. (Tin hat firmly on)

Used to be rife in the late 70's and sadly I was part of it. It was all in jest but that's not really good enough.

Bit of being young and silly but also society has changed immensly.

And in the case of raciasm it has changed for the better.

We've just got a bit further to go.

Explain? cos I never noticed it much in the 70s

Absolutely no way has there been a rise since the 80s. Things are far better now.

However I wouldn’t be at all surprised to find that racism has increased significantly in the last 5 years, or that islamophobia has increased since the 80s.
Islamophobia defo. When the terror attacks/grooming gangs where ramped up post 9/11 western society began having a real problem with Islam.

SAFC fans have always been a tolerant moderate bunch.Ive followed us since the mid/late 80’s and never witnessed any racist shit from us.

Rise in racism since the 80s? Give owa.

"A group of supporters are heard chanting: 'We hate Tottenham - Yids! We hate Tottenham - Yids!', with two individuals appearing to make Nazi salutes."

It's been a spurs chant for decades. Two lads doing a nazi salute out of how many?

Be nice of them to send some under cover" journalists" to Naples or Rome to investigate their casuals who have inflicted death on other a European fans.
It doesn't mention the 80s which were obviously far worse. Its talking about recent years which, unless you're blind, is pretty obvious.

Yeah but we can only compare our selves to our history.

Taking anything in isolation can make something look a lot worse than it is

They actually chant it themselves at games

Was coming through loud & clear on Wednesday night

There's a difference turkey brains. Which has already been explained on the previous page.

We had the Punjab Army amongst our ranks  Often its what many would say isn't racism (darkie, for example).

Loads of monkey chants at Emerson at the SoL. Loud and clear even when you watch it back.

Remember a lad in the south stand screaming "Fuck off Suarez, you racist spick twat"

Bit more than just the Chelsea stuff. Seems to becoming more prevalent again. Very sad.
It seems to be coming fashionable to fo this stuff amongst some supporters nowadays. I would say ignorance and stupidity, rather than genuine racism these days.

I get the misguided Islamophobia because the religion has had a lot of bad press due to a minority of religious nutters. A lot of the antisemitic stuff will be kids jumping on the Corbyn bandwagon.

I very rarely hear any racism directed at black British people like I used to years ago. Sometimes it's just the 'fashionable' target of the day.

Some on here reckon calling someone a black b*stard is no different to calling someone a ginger b*stard or a fat b*stard.

When that sinks in you realise why the problem will never go away.

I can say hand on heart I’ve never heard monkey change from SAFC fans at any game ever.
I remember the game Emerson ripped us a new arsehole at the Sol and nothing like that.It wouldn’t have been tolerated
