You said he deserves to be treat differently ffs, regardless of their past, everyone in the game should be treat the same. If the actions of Joey Barton deserve a certain punishment, every other player should deserve that punishment too. The fact Barton going down too easily is the biggest talking point of that game and not the Song stamp is absolutely absurd, because if it was Joey doing the stamping there'd be and a national witch hunt and cries from everyone to have him hung, drawn and quartered.

Also, I didn't contest the influence part, Joey clearly was trying the influence the decision, it was the dishonest part I contest. Gervinho clearly deserved to be sent off, Barton's actions merely made sure the correct decision was made. If it was dishonest, it would imply Joey influenced the referee into making a wrong decision.

Sorry, I just saw him throw himself to the ground as if punched, rather than brushed, then get up and tell the people around him "he punched me", whilst miming a punch. Seeing as there was no punch, I myself considered this to be a lie, and as a lie by definition "dishonest". Seeing as it was an attempt to get Gervinho sent off (or else why would he do it?) and that I considered it dishonest (for the reasons outlined above) I didn't think it was too much of a stretch for me to call it a "dishonest attempt to have Gervinho sent off"

I'm just really bemused by why you can't see the flaw in your logic? It's dishonest because it wasn't honest. It's not difficult to understand that is it? If I lied to the police to add more weight to the case against someone I had thought had committed a crime then that is perjury and a crime itself even though the accused may indeed have committed said crime - Understand yet?

In derby week "fuck off" numpty.

" get up Gervinho you cheating ****"

" He punched me"

Joey is a cock and im so glad he plays for you.

Poor victim Joey is going to receive no further action. Song has been charged. So basically, all this shite about one getting all the flak while the other incident is brushed under the carpet, is just that, shite.

Precisely. Barton obviously thought that the tap on the cheek wouldnt be enough for a red card so decided to try and convince the referee that an offence that WOULD warrant a red card ie a punch had occured. Hence him exposing himself as a cheating scumbag on TV for the watching millions. As if we didnt already know Joey.....

Yellow for the pull, nothing for the going to ground. It's a dive if there's no contact, yes he made a meal of it but Gervinho slapped him on his face, Barton was only making sure Gervinho received the correct punishment. It may not be 'morally' right, but it's little more than gamesmanship and if we started sending players off for making a meal of things (which, again, is different from diving after zero contact) we'd never finish a game.
Personally, I don't 100% agree with this kind of gamesmanship, but it's common place in football these days and Joey shouldn't be made a scapegoat just because it's Joey. If Joey had to go there the referees would have to have consistently sent off every one else who did similar, which they haven't done for some time and won't do in the future.

Fuck off you prick.

The ref makes the decisions, not the players.

There's no need to go down like a fanny, if you get slapped for being a nob then don't got down like a girl.

The initial dragging him to his feet was more violent than the little slap to the side of the head.

Something I'm sure hasn't been mentioned through all the discussions about this incident.Surely if the referee waved play on the ball was still "live".So Bartons manhandling of Gervhino was a foul and therefore a nailed on penalty.

100% correct. Notwithstanding it was violent conduct too which should have warranted a red card to boot.

if barton didnt grab at gervinho in the first place ,none of the afters would have happened.

Barton committed the closest act to actual assault on another player since some cretin actually punched a Blackburn player last season.
He then single handledly nearly caused a mass brawl that was witnessed by millions live around the world.
He has no defense whatsoever for his actions.

I expect the bastions of British football to act accordingly and do sweet FA (sic).

Heard on 5Live about 15 mins ago:

"and coming up at 10 o clock, Joey Barton talks about THAT slap at the weekend".

Hes getting the sort of exposure C list celebrities aim for. Possibly his intention all along. I remember he hired an image consultant:

Newcastle FC midfielder Joey Barton has looked to the world of music to get his public perception sorted out – by hiring Vampire Weekend's manager for an image overhaul.

The controversial midfielder is known for his brushes with the law, and was jailed in 2008 for assault. But according to The Sun today (May 23) he has enlisted music manager Ian Montone to help get rid of his bad boy image after meeting him at Vampire Weekend gigs.
Wouldnt be surprised to see him cropping up in the media a bit more often.
