Joey Barton's got no place in football - he's a violent egotistical scumbag.
Hilarity aside, it's really bewildering that he continues to try and defend himself over his "performance" on Saturday. You won't see a more blatant example of cheating all season.
Cheating?Gervinho clearly slapped him in the face man. Gamesmanship, yes; cheating, no.
Not to mention a much more blatant example of cheating enticed this specific incident.![]()

It's "cheating" I'm afraid Jake
Gervinho was 'clipped' harder in the tackle than Barton was 'clipped' by Gervinho
Barton wrongly threw his toys out of the pram by insisting Gervinho dived, before diving himself 2 minutes later.
Don't get me started on Taylor's elbow waving...![]()

Yes cheating. The most blatant of cheating.
A player dives in the box to try and fool the referee and gain an advantage for their team - cheating.
A player feigns injury when tapped on the face to try and fool the referee and gain an advantage for their team - cheating.
If Barton wasn't intending to con the referee into thinking he'd been punched - in a blatant attempt to get a fellow player sent off, then why did he throw himself on the ground clutching his face? Are you trying to tell me he made himself look like a prized, cheating twat live on TV for no reason, without the intention of fooling the referee?
The man is a scumbag and a cheat. He's got no business in football.
Did he really con the ref though? Con implies that he tried to make the referee make an incorrect decision, but we're all agreed Gervinho had to be sent off? He didn't con the referee and he didn't cheat. He went over too easily, but that's gamesmanship and that's rife in football, Barton shouldn't be made a scapegoat for it just because of who he is. I don't like to see it in football, but until the powers that be make a concerted effort to stamp it out from the the other 19 teams in the league, I don't see why our players shouldn't do it too.
What's shocking is the way the Song incident has been swept under the carpet after this, imagine just for one second if the boot was on the other foot and Barton stamped on Song. It would be front page, back page, national news. Also imagine if someone like Nani had gone down like Joey, it would barely get a passing mention, especially if it was Joey Barton doing the slapping, in which case Joey would again be made out to be the evil villain.
Like I said, I don't agree with this sort of behaviour but it happens and therefore Barton shouldn't be treat any differently to every other player in the league. Unfortunately, he clearly does.

Keep kidding yourself fella
Barton if anything is getting away with murder at present, not the other way around...
Yes, cheating.
If he wasn't intending to dishonestly influence the referee's decision then he wouldn't have thrown himself on the ground clutching his face after having his cheek stroked.
As for the bit in bold - that's bollocks. He's clearly treat differently and he clearly deserves to be. He has proven time and time again that he's a waste of oxygen. When he's not stamping on a students head he's hospitalising a team mate, assaulting a 15 year old trainee, stubbing cigars out in peoples eyes, exposing himself at the crowd, twittering about how everyone other than him is a twat, punching Morten Gamst Pedersen, rolling round on the ground in a deliberate attempt to get a fellow professional sent off....etc....etc...
How many more times do we have to hear the same shite about how he's "victimised"?! He's not victimised because he's not a victim. He;s created a lot of victims in his time but he isn't one himself - everthing that comes his way now and in the future he has earned through almost a decade of being a scumbag, cheat, twat and bell-end.

You could've really condensed that bitter hatred for him into 1 sentence. Would've been a lot easier just to say: "I absolutely despise this man and I'm therefore unable to give a balanced view on the situation."
Also, if he was intending to 'dishonestly influence' the referees decision, again that implies that Gervinho didn't deserve to go. Gervinho did deserve to go, so it wasn't dishonest as such.

Aye, definitely. Barton's the one getting away with murder. The Song incident deserves to be completely swept under the carpet by almost everyone, because it wasn't Joey Barton doing the offending. Honestly, just sit for one minute, and imagine the uproar if that was Barton doing the stamping, just imagine.

Unable to give a balanced view? Which of the above listed incidents did I make up? Or even exaggerate? Did he not do time for stamping on a students head? Did he not hospitalise Ousmane Dabo? Did he not stub out a cigar in someones eye? Did he not punch MGP? Did he not expose himself to the crowd? Did he not make a tit of himself on Saturday in an attempt to make out that he'd been punched and have Gervinho sent off?
I fail to follow your logic. Am I just mental and imagining all of the above? Is he in fact not a twat and waste of oxygen as he has himself proved again, and again, and again?
If him throwing himself on the ground wasn't an attempt to influence the referees decision then why did he do it? Does he just like looking a dick in front of the watching TV audience?
Your stance here raises so many questions!!
You said he deserves to be treat differently ffs, regardless of their past, everyone in the game should be treat the same. If the actions of Joey Barton deserve a certain punishment, every other player should deserve that punishment too. The fact Barton going down too easily is the biggest talking point of that game and not the Song stamp is absolutely absurd, because if it was Joey doing the stamping there'd be and a national witch hunt and cries from everyone to have him hung, drawn and quartered.
Also, I didn't contest the influence part, Joey clearly was trying the influence the decision, it was the dishonest part I contest. Gervinho clearly deserved to be sent off, Barton's actions merely made sure the correct decision was made. If it was dishonest, it would imply Joey influenced the referee into making a wrong decision.
