Bardsley was injured in training

Some of the grief players get on here is beyond a joke sometimes. Problem with such a fast moving messageboard is that people need to display extreme views to get noticed.

...and that they're cunts

Exactly this!!! Bardsley gives 100% effort for SAFC and whether he is good enough or not, at the moment he is near enough the best we have in his position so we just have to get behind the lad and every other player to pull the red and white shirt on for us!

If we want to push on under O'Neill then getting Bardsley out of the first team has to be a priority. He has no positional sense, has no idea how to defend against people running at him, goes missing when we are defending set-pieces, slows any attacking impetus we get on the left wing and continually blames other for his own mistakes. That comment about us fans expecting to win the league shows how out of touch he is.

The sooner he is either out of the first team or the club the better.

I forgot about that, any other player (apart from maybe Colback or Ryan Noble) would've been absolutely slated and still hated on here for it...

That, stamping on players and getting sent off in daft situations... all other players would've been torn to shreds on here...

And its f***ing Phil Bardsley of all people, who is let off, he's shit

Have people been criticising him? He played well until he came off worse for fouling someone yesterday.
OShea, Sess and Bendtner were the missing links on Sunday...and we still only lost 1-0..happy times ahead...

Had a smashing game defensively

You get some of the most rational, level headed posters that still have their blind spot and irrational dislike of a footballer way out of reality. Mine was probably Ferdinand I just couldnt get away with him but in the cold light of day he is probably a decent enough player with obvious faults.

Yours is bardsley who is at worst a more than useful squad player for a moderate premiership team yet you have him down as Tommy Lynch mark 2

Heard that before though. His name was Danny Collins and where is he now? I got accused of the same 'blind spot' about him.

I just don't rate defenders who haven't got a grasp on the basics of defending. I don't see what is so unreasonable about that.

it's cos he tries hard man.

We can attract considerably better than Bardsley. Bardsley could never defend properly, but this season he has added a stupid violent streak and needlessly shinning the ball into the stand at every opportunity to his game.

You don't normally talk shit, but you're making up total crap and having a 'mare here so I'll put it down to being Xmas

Its not true though. Hes an average player - represented his country very well and is IMO a moderate defender. In the cold light of day for a bloke who has never kicked a ball at any standard to say that a fella with international caps and hundreds of premoership games behind him hasn't got a 'basic grasp of defending' is hilarious

What knowledge do you have to judge that?

Pretty desperate logic from you there, like. I shall be remembering it next time you criticise player or manager ;) You don't need to have played at any level at all to recognise Bardsley's poor defending.

For the record, Bardsley hasn't got 'hundreds' of Premier League games behind him. He has barely 100.

Someone else so in love with Bardsley that they just attack those who don't rate him rather than engage in debate. Telling. ;)

In the two derby games vs the mags last season, he was man-marking Nolan at set pieces and every time he wandered away as the ball came in (note that Bardsley was the one who moved, it wasn't good movement by Nolan) which directly resulted in 3 of Nolan's 4 goals against us. At home to Wolves last season he shows Jarvis onto his right foot and then backs off and let's him cross, which leads to a Wolves goal. Against Wolves this season he is at the far post as a cross comes in and just stands there, not paying attention, as a Wolves player runs in and gets on the end of the cross which led to the brilliant save by Westwood. Yesterday he wasn't paying attention to Lennon and let him run off him when a simple ball was played over the top and then threw himself into a desperate tackle.

They are a few examples off the top of my head. There are many, many more.

Bolton away last season was a corker too. The other three defenders in a perfect zonal defensive position along the 6 yard line, except Bardsley who wasn't even in the box despite the ball being on the opposite flank. Ball comes to far post, Klasnic heads in unchallenged with Bardsley running back, Steve Bruce openly blames Bardsley after the game, yet his fans on here insist it was all Ferdinand's fault.

You can take any player in isolation and do that - I rate Brown but I could give you more as many costly mistakes by him in a handful of games this season as you can there.

How can I debate with someone who has made his mind up and backs his opinion up with tripe like always shins the ball off the pitch? Can't tackle etc. I saw 2 tackles on the highlights at the weekend which showed no more than 10 minutes of the game

Bardsley is a good honest pro and on current form easily a better bet than O'Shea at both full back positions. He got sent off for a stupid stamp that I'm sure he'll learn from but that apart is having his usual steady season.

I dont think one person in the entire world would see how that was funny

Instances like that happen in every game, he has no idea how to defend. Anyone who thinks Bardsley is anything but a piss poor defender simply aren't paying attention.

How could you possibly do that? In the cold light of day for a bloke who has never kicked a ball at any standard to say that a fella with international caps, hundreds of premiership games behind him, along with a plethora of medals has made costly mistakes is hilarious.

I can't believe there are so many people either not paying attention during our games or who are brainwashed by him "wearing his heart on his sleeve". He does stuff like this ALL the time, yet gets a free ride by 99% of fans. Unbelievable.

One goal v mags Mingo came out flapping like a tart and Bardsley did what any defender should do, covered behind the absent keeper on the line. The only reason I know that is because I argued the point on here at the time. The others I really can't recall. 1 goal against Wolves Elmo made no effort at all to close down and block the cross, again I can't vouch for the other goal?

Wes Brown has made several awful basic errors that have lead almost directly to goals this season. I think he's decent but needs to cut these errosrs out of his game.
