Bardsley wanted by West Ham

Can't wait to see the likes of him and the other dross leave. They have blighted the club for the past few years and we will be better off without them.

Ok. f***ing shit. Seen off 6 managers who have been fooled by the odd good tackle.

He's our joint third highest goalscorer this season- aye f*cking shit.

If he was as bad as you say why didn't the stated six managers ship him at the first opportunity?

Granted this season hasn't been good but of all of them Bardsley is the least of our worries - if he remains a Premiership player even if we go down he can't be that bad surely.

No one thinks he's outstanding but he is a good solid fullback who at least earns his wages and puts a shift in. If he does go I will wish him the best and he has given us some decent memories (minor Di Canio indiscretion aside which was f*ck all in reality - talks cheap - he puts the effort in).[DOUBLEPOST=1397067264][/DOUBLEPOST]
We'll probably get McCartney back in exchange, he's out of contract as well.

I hope not - he was a complete disaster second time round - stole a living for me - high transfer fee and I bet wages to match.

Weak as piss.

Di Canio wanted rid of him, he was put on the transfer list under Bruce and O'Neill didn't rate him to the point that he preferred Craig Gardner as a right-back.

Di Canio wanted rid of everyone the complete and utter lunatic. Don't remember the Bruce episode I'll take your word for it but I'm sure he played enough times under his stewardship. O'Neill was looking back with hindsight at the end of his top-level club management career and made some bizarre decisions - anyone who thinks Gardner is a better right back than Bardsley or even a full-back needs help.

Aye, was put on the transfer list after Bruce's first season here apparently because he had concerns about his attitude and he hardly played in the first month or so of the following season until Richardson got injured and we had nobody else who could cover at left-back. Gardner did a decent enough job at right-back for the first half of last season to be honest, certainly better than what Bardsley had shown for a good 18 months beforehand. Probably quite similar to Bardsley's season at left-back in 2010/11, looked reasonably solid at first as a stopgap, but once team started targeting them as a weakness, they were found out very quickly and became a massive problem.

This is all a bit of a daft argument to be honest. I've nothing against Bardsley, he's had a good season this year and is a bottom half of the Premier League right back. But he's out of contract. He's not going to half his wages because he'd be mad to and we're not going to give him a deal closer to his current one because we'd be mad to.

On top of that, he's 29 in June, meaning that even if we did come straight back up, we'd be left with a 30 year old full back who wasn't that great at the top level to begin with for a couple of years until his contract runs out. Far better to look for a younger player who is good at Championship level and can possibly step up to the Premier.

Really - how many games did he play there? Hopefully we can find a buyer for him because he isn't very good at all - might be OK in the Championship but I would still be looking to get rid of him - if we do go down and come back up he isn't Premiership standard at all.

As I have said Bardsley is a decent defensive fullback - if he sticks around he won't let us down and hopefully we can come straight back up.

He was first-choice right back for pretty much all of last season whilst O'Neill was here. Agreed with you on his all-round ability, he's not very good at all but he did look a better option than Bardsley at that time.

Don't agree with Bardsley being a good defensive full-back, the amount of goals that he has contributed to by not closing down the winger quick enough down the years is ridiculous.
