If Colback wasn't a local lad people would be baying for his blood.
Horse shite if he had come in the summer from foreign, people would be sucking him off[DOUBLEPOST=1381728123][/DOUBLEPOST]
Celustka imo
Colback imo.[DOUBLEPOST=1381728282][/DOUBLEPOST]

Colnack has been better than celustka or slightly worse depending on your point of view. One is lauded becausebhenis from foreign one is slagged of cos he is local[/DOUBLEPOST]
Colback imo.

Really? What has Celustka done exactly? Some long range shots? Being caught out of position? He's been ok, but nothing special.

And no, Colback is far from woeful.[/quote
Being caught out of position.

Think your getting celustka mixed up with colback mate. Thinks hes a centre half at times.

Hes rank average. Nothing more. One of the players we need shot of if we are ever going to get anywhere

We've really fucked up this position. We should have dug into our pockets for Rose, but instead we have Colback who has lost what form he had (but was at best 'capable' in defence and poor going forward), an unknown who we bought pre-crocked, and Bardsley who has not blotted his copy-book so much as shat on it...

Over to you, Gus ! :)

He's been poor man, why do certain posters continue to make excuses for Colback?

Morning Rocky.
Disagree. The two games when Colback was questioned were a total and utter f**king shambles. I doubt you're(or i) qualified to dissect what was happening without knowing exactly what tactics they'd been told to play and what individual instructions were issued. In the absence of any short back passes, shanked clearances or own goals i haven't passed comment on those games.
I can say i re-watched the WBA game on a big screen and just about every one of their attacks started 5 yards directly in front of Colback. There wasn't even any build up play, it was like our players on that side weren't even there.

Oh do fuck off, man. He hasn't being playing well. Its that simple. Stop making excuses.[DOUBLEPOST=1381743718][/DOUBLEPOST]
Because we watch the game rather than our preconceived ideas about the player?
Yes you know he's played well before a ball is kicked.

Some people said he'd made howling errors but i didn't see it like that. Others said he was tucked too far in but maybe he was instructed to do that. He might've personally disagreed with the tactics being used but had to go with them as part of a unit.
As i said, there were so many things wrong with those two performances as a team it was nearly impossible to differentiate "cause and effect". Either the tactics were totally wrong or some individuals didn't stick to the plan but they were completely disjointed.
I'll say again, without knowing every detail regarding tactics/instructions it would be almost impossible to apportion blame, that's why i didn't.

you could just have your opinion.

Instructed to leave his man free on nearly every single attack. Sounds true.

you could just have your opinion.

for example, people blamed him for the first WBA goal when the cross came in from almost the touchline. We should be able to defend bread and butter stuff like that with our eyes closed.
From experience i can promise you it's a clear tactic to allow teams to operate from distance rather than risk penetration. Every now and then the opposition will get "lucky" but the % game will always win in the end. I said at the time but before any PL game if a team was given the option of only having to defend crosses from the touchline they would snap your hands off.

if you get the chance to watch WBA's goal against Arsenal from a couple of weeks ago it was even "worse" than ours for sitting off.
another example would be our fulham game at home when people were saying we had them under constant pressure. That wasn't true, most of the time they were in control and had us exactly where they wanted, at distance against a condensed defence.
