This, I don't think people realise how much not having an attacking fullback inhibits us. "Aye but he tackles hard and pumps his fists" is most peoples response.

Explain what he does well and then name the top five "Problem Positions"?

Consistent performer, rarely goes missing.

Left back
Centre half pairing
centre midfield
right wing
two strikers

Find me ten better right backs in the prem

There is an element here though of people applying their own tactical ideals to our plans for next season. Whatever we personally like in footballers, the key issue is what MON's plans are. If his plans are to free up the best attacking talent by using more 'stay at home' type defenders, then attacking full backs are the last thing we should expect, or even want for that matter.

But from what I've gathered from watching this season is that we'll probably employ a counter attacking philosophy which Bardo is simply not good enough at. His defending isn't even that good it just gets exaggerated because he can't attack there's many flaws to his defensive game. I'm more than happy for him to be back up though as he seems a decent lad and can be a decent enough stop gap at RB and LB.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm one of his biggest critics. It's not that I think he's completely shit. Just limited.
I wouldn't lose any sleep if he started the season as 1st choice RB. Not left back though as it makes us very narrow at times.

Replacing Bardsley is not a priority.

If we brought in:

2 strikers
A left back (assuming Richardson goes)
A pacy midfielder

Then we could look at utilising whatever resources we have to improve the squad depth and progressing.

Someone like Clyne would be my preferred choice.

A new RB is a bigger need than a pacy midfielder. Also maybe a striker aswell. The only need that is greater than a new RB is signing our new first choice striker.

If he was named Phillipo Bardarinho people would rate him much higher. Many occasion last season he was praised and rightly so for his contribution and his goals, yet if he played badly (usually when the rest if the team failed to perform) he was singled out as a weak link.

Like many have said we have many more pressing issues with regards to strengthening and with Bardsley you know he will give his all and not go missing.

We haven't had a bardo slagging off thread for a while like

Don't get me wrong, I'm far from a fan of Bardsley's. But I think people need to accept that MON has traditionally liked more defensive full backs who can make a very compact defence and that is what we are likely to get here too.

Thats over 70% pass completion...not bad for a defender. 1 goal in the FA cup too

Sagna, P.Ferrerira, Ivanovic, G.Johnson, Zabaleta, Richards, Rafael, P.Jones, K.Walker, G.Demel, Coleman, Cuellar. We can add to that Heitinga, Huth and Kaboul. Most would add Hutton. And there's talk of Maicon and Debouchy coming to Premier League.

Really like the lads attitude however he frustrates the life out of me, he's brain dead at times.

Bardsley is better than Hutton, comfortably so.
