Bardo

Sorry mate was in a foul mood at work and was on here on way out, my fault

It was just how you said Cuellar was a RB, hes naturally CB. Although he has played alot at RB, including under MON...

I would prefer him at CB too, but the question we should be asking ourselves is where does MON prefer him. O'Neill had him for two years and only used him there about a third of the time whilst buying two centre halves to replace him. All the indicators are that he sees him as a full back.

Or backup...he was only a free after all.

Larsson was a bosman and wasn't a back-up. Ba was a bosman. Even Pirlo was a bosman. Cuellar played right back for MON in a team that finished 6th. Has Bardsley really done enough to convince him he is a better bet than that? Not sure, myself.

The largest mystery with the SMB is the way 8 out 10 say Bardo is shite and MUST be replaced. I don't get that at all. He's easily good enough for a mid table team - imo - and to my knowledge we aren't realistically aiming for 6th or better.

Personally, I think the Premier League relegation mire is his level. Lots about him I admire, but not his defending. Like I said before, I think he needs to be replaced, but not as a matter of priority this summer.

It's clear as the bitterness displayed on this thread marra.

In all seriousness he's one of the most consistent players in our squad: rarely injured, 40 games a season since he joined. Pacer, hard, can shoot and is dedicated. We could do a lot worse

No, we really couldnt.

He's an honest toiler of a pro, probably relegation Premiership or high Championship standard.

Once again there is no substitute for class.

 And yet is very rarely the worst performer in our side. It's a wonder why we haven't been relegated in any of the last 5 seasons like.

Not sure that is true tbh. It's completely objective really. Everyone sees football differently, values different things in a performance, dislikes others. Starting a riposte with a patronizing laughing smiley doesn't make it an unquestionable truth.

If someone thinks he is of championship standard then it makes that person open to my patronizing smileys you dislike so much. Opinions can and should be laughed at if they are bollocks.

You say that then you get all precious when people laugh at your's. It's a two-way street.

I don't agree that Bardsley is championship standard. I think he has a role to play for someone in the Premier League somewhere, although towards the lower end or at newly promoted teams trying to build something. But I am not so arrogant to declare that opinion and myself as indisputable and anything else worthy of nothing but condescension.

It's all just opinions at the end of the day and they are all as valid as each other. If you disagree with one, challenge it. Debate it. It is what intelligent people do. At the end of the day, you are not qualified to define anyone's opinion on here. None of us are.

Toys out of pram (on another Bardsley thread - qu'elle surprise), throwing around accusations and expletives, questioning people's integrity, and all because I suggested you accept that your opinion was not the absolute authority on Phil Bardsley that you seem to think it is...

... and you start the post with accusing ME of 'gan off on one'.

Seriously marra, how old are you?

And there you have it folks, right there

I'm baffled and embarrassed for you in equal measures mate. I clearly bother you, you should probably ignore me or just try and get over it.
I'm 33 and happy how i go on by the way.

In my opinion he's a very limited defender and an awful footballer.

Decent for a low Premier League team but if we want to move on we need to improve at right back.

We need a striker or two but after that I think we need to replace him.

Where do you think we should strengthen this summer? We finished 13 and there must be more reasons for that (Bruce being one). Which players need to be replaced for us to be a better side in your opinion?

we need two strikers
a decent centre midfielder
a decent right midfield
a decent centre half pairing
a decent left back

Then we can replace the apparent mediocre right back that we have.

In my eyes that makes him the 7th most likely position that needs attention
