Striker
I didn't know this but apparently it's correct. O'Neill had him as a player on loan at Villa in 2008 and released him to go back to Man U. Wasn't interested in pursuing him on a permanent deal.

I can't imagine that was cost related and I can't think he has changed as a player dramatically (Suppose he has improved a bit, at least in our fans eyes due to his POTS award)

Does suggest that perhaps O'Neill doesn't rate him (I do hope though he is not planning on playing Cuellar there and we get a proper RB)?

Does anyone?

Bardo has improved vastly since his short tenure at Villa.

He's certainly not as bad as some on here make out.

I've never rated him and had I been in charge I'd have probably replaced him by now too.

Linked with a move to Real Madrid

Has applied for a janitor role there?

In all seriousness he's one of the most consistent players in our squad: rarely injured, 40 games a season since he joined. Pacer, hard, can shoot and is dedicated. We could do a lot worse

I agree 100% with these. I don't get the criticism of Bardsley. He's a solid mid-table Premier League full back playing for a mid-table Premier League club. Some fans have ideas above their station - If we are only making 3 or 4 quality signings this season is right back really more of a priority than 2 strikers and a creative/pacy midfielder?

Right back is low on our list of priorities for at least another season, probably more likely 2 or 3.

he was at Rangers (on loan) around a similar time and yes.. he has improved since.

Any excuse to have a pop at Bardsley though.

exactly. In a team that doesn't have a decent striker, our fans are more interested in replacing a fairly consistent + fairly decent right full back.

ive always liked bardo as a typical good old fashioned strong tackling RB

He should be the baseline that we try to improve on. Anyone being brought into the team needs to be better at doing the same things or offer something else to the team, depending on how we look to play, and make Bardsley the back-up.

He is pretty reliable for now IMO.

But we want a couple of strikers and a replacement for our next weakest link. Unsure why that's so hard to understand?

Yes but football is a lot more than just tackling.

.

This for me, it's not even in top five list of priorities in my opinion.

I'd like to know who people think we could sign who is better than him.

Nathaniel Clyne.
Alan Hutton.

There's two and I don't have Football Manager, nor do I religiously read 442 magazine. I imagine there tonnes of better right backs in Germany, Holland and France etc.
