Phillip Vaughan is credited with inventing the ball bearing in the 1700s but did the Romans’ not have bearing back in the day?

Any historical engineers help clarify this outrage and did this Welshman steal roman technologies and change our lives?

Thanks to the proper high-quality ball bearings the Roman engineers could design and operate complex machines successfully as outlined in (Rossi et al., 2009) . ... The ball bearings were discovered together with the finding of two Roman imperial ships in the Nemi's lake, near Rome, during the years 1928-32.

I worked for R & M then R.H.P. We built and produced bearings ... hopefully this helps !!!

We tried to bomb a German ball bearing factory in WW2 - we (the Allies) caused a lot of damage, but the lack of fighter protection meant there were catastrophic losses of the bombers. The operation was deemed a failure and the factory still produces ball bearings today!
