What was vardy doing aged 20 you know nothing you have a lot of opinions for someone who just lies about going to games

He might have just joined Halifax in the Northern Premier by then but tbf, he bagged goals for every club he played for and consistently indicated he could step up. His worst seasons were his first in the Championship and first in the Premiership with Leicester. As soon as he and the team acclimatised he started scoring again.

Good luck to the kid at Peterborough. I said at the time that we had had Norwich's pants down on the deal and I've seen nothing to change my mind.

vardy is an outlier...an exception that doesnt prove the rule. using him as an example is always a sign an argument has run aground.

if he fails at peterborough..the fee safc got will look like very good business
Stop trying to justify it. It was a crap deal

Another absolute bellend

no one can possibly know it was a crap deal..if mumba is below champo standard it was a ood deal, if he is champo standard or higher it was a bad deal..as he has done nowt yet we cant judge the quality of what he has done.

Hope he’s brilliant and has a good career, good to be associated with players that make it for recruitment of youngsters. Do we know if there was a sell on clause?

Would Mumba have had any more of an impact? And if so, would it have been worth the money on the table for him?

I think it was a good deal and I've maintained that all along. I had argued with many who had assured me he'd be a Premier League regular by now, who now have little left than to accuse me of wanting them to fail. It's a silly and absurd suggestion as there's nothing I'd love more than for another of our own to hit the heights others have.

….. maybe hitting those heights with us.

You've got to admit Mumba's progression was handled very badly by some awful football judges...Reid, Ross, Donald, Methvan the list goes on, they sent him to South fkn Shields man. Anyway the original point was OBrien (cult) or Mumba (potential) was it worth it in the long run?

Another young player who had his head turned by interest and probably a pushy agent keen to make a few quid who has found out the grass isn't always greener the hard way.

why compare o brien with mumba-they play different positions...
the accurate comparisin is between cirkin and mumba..or dan neil and mumba..would you dropdan neilto play mumba?
is cirkin now worth more money than mumba?
dan neil is definitely worth more money now than mumba...what if playing mumba in midfield meant dan neils progress was halted?

It was an awful deal. The money was to cover a short term cash flow problem because the club had none.

Bohemians sold Matt Dothery to Wolves for €20k but made €2m from Wolves selling him to Spurs. That's a good deal. I'd imagine Linfield have a similar clause for the Hume. Linfield got £200k which is a very good deal for an Irish League club. We got £350k which is nothing really.
