Must have missed that. I hope the lads did it justice and gave the news its own thread. Have you any idea how long he has signed up for.
Article here from November, got a bit of discussion on here although I think most people agree with Harmison's thinking. Great for Durham, maybe not the best option for the development of his bowling

2 year deal according to this article

Whilst it's been very poorly handled by the club's pr, it was certainly common knowledge on this forum that he'd signed a contract a few months ago. In fact, I'm pretty sure Harmison wrote a column about it in the Sunday Sun a month or two back saying he thought he might have moved counties for his England prospects.

Harmison is a fuckin wanker though, he's advised a few of our lads to move on.

As for Borthwick, it was common knowledge he signed a new deal a few month ago, but only last night was the first sort of "official" announcement by the club which is pretty poor.

Cheers was unaware of those articles or couldn't remember reading them.

Harker seems to be talking about his new contract in that story from November. Daft that they never put anything on their website though.

A wanker because he's giving his opinion? I'm made up Borthwick's staying but hand on heart do you not think his bowling would come on better elsewhere? His comments about Richardson were correct too, it was going to be years before he got in ahead of Mustard as keeper, the players can't hang around waiting forever. I don't know who else you're talking about so can't comment.

Personally I think Borthwick is better off concentrating on his batting, I think he's a class act with the bat. Richardson is a good cricketer and he's reaping the rewards by staying with Durham. I've said it a few times on here, but he would be my choice for wicketkeeper.

Harmison never bothered with Durham for years, never bothered mixing with the team and didn't bother with supporters. Got no time for him or Harker, just find it a bit rude he encourages our good players to leave the club.

I get the loyalty point but are you loyal to the club or to your team-mates? As I said, I'm glad he's not been very persuasive!

And I agree with you about Borthwick, but he still sees himself as a bowler who bats. Both are doing great at Durham, who's to say what would have happened if they'd gone elsewhere but there's no point worrying about that now.

I think Borthwick is still at an age where he can focus on both

I think he was slightly unfortunate not to get a chance last summer, Ali did well and deserves his place now, but he was still a gamble at the time, I think had Borthwick been backed he might of flourished, and his bowling might only get better in that environment.

it will be interesting to see who is the wicket keeper. They will probably play safe and go back to Mustard and give him the chance to regain his place. The impression i had this time last year was that Richardson was giving up the gloves to concentrate on his batting, but when Mustard got dropped Richardson made it clear he wants to be a wicket keeper/batsmen. Looking at the Durham squad although it is small there is quite a few all rounders who would quite fancy that number 7 spot if Richardson gets the gloves.

Yea, it's not too late for Borthwick. I saw this quote from an article on the Aussie squad about their leggy ahmed "at 33, he is approaching maturity for his art".

The best wicket keeper at Durham, in my opinion, is Stuart Poynter. If you get a chance to see him keep, watch him.
However, in this day and age you pick the best batter that can keep wicket(just look at Jos Buttler for England).
Seems like it is a straight choice between Mustard and Richardson.
