Australia v England - 3rd Test, Perth

They wanted it more and prepared accordingly to win the series. They had plans for our batsmen and they've shot pretty much all of them to bits. We turned up expecting an easy ride and we've been punished for it, you have to feel it'll be the end of the road for a few of these once they return home.

Two tests left, pride to be salvaged.

An inquest a must.Big call to made on Pietersen,Swann and Andersons futures and the rebuilding process.

Not much will change. Same old faces will play in the summer. KP will belt a poor bunch of Indian seamers to all parts, Jimmy will make the Dukes ball talk and the Indian batsmen will as usual have no idea with the ball swinging, and Swann will benefit from the pressure built up by the seamers.

Agree though it would be nice to see a little more youth injected into the side although just not sure where!

All ewer the team.

Still think a lot have more to offer. Can see Prior being replaced at some point for sure. Of the bowlers Jimmy has to play in home conditions, although I would like to see Finn being pushed a bit more into the side now.

On the batting front Cook, Bell, Root, and now Stokes seem nailed on. KP has an awful lot to prove, and Carberry has done ok.

I actually have issues with the coaching staff. I would love to see what Gooch's input has been. We could barely make 200 an innings and hardly any of them seem to have found any way of improving as the tests progressed.

Its time for the likes of Taylor and Ballance to start pushing for batting places.Buttler and Baistow to vie for the wk gloves while Finn is a massive talent who needs to progress sooner rather than later but England must persevere with him.

Reckon Swann will go after this. KP will will and should be given the 1st home series of the summer to get some runs, Cook needs to consider dropping down to 3 if Trott is still out, Prior looks like he needs a break to get some form back. Anderson just looks tired and this long break will do him good before the next test match. Carberry just does not seem to offer the side anything for the forseeable future, Sam Robson should be chucked in. Tremlett wont be seen again in England colours.

This will never happen, I mean really, after 100 tests as an opener your not going drop down to 3 are you.
We have had a good run with the same faces, aside from Strauss & Collingwood going the team has been pretty much the same for 4/5 years. As much as you shouldnt just bin players off after 1 bad (terrible series) the likes of Swan, KP, Board, Anderson (even Monty) are coming to the end of their time and we need to start looking else to begining bringing in new blood gradually over next 3/4 years.

Cook
Carberry
Moeen Ali
Bell
Root
Stokes
Bairstow
Finn
Chris Jordan
Rankin
Stuart Meaker

Four out and out quicks, with ali tweaking some left arm spin. Fuck it best give the younguns a chance.

Swann is a funny one. Came to it late so will probably want to stay on as long as possible, but is 34/35 and can't have much left in him. Mebbes Scotty can step up in the next couple of years?

I really can't see Pietersen stepping down, you can almost hear him and his agent talking about his post-cricket media career and they can't have the story ending on a downer. I reckon he'll go after the next home Ashes.

Cook is the world's best opener and won't be dropping down anywhere thankyou very much.

So (for me) we've got Carberry, Trott and 3rd seamer places up for grabs with Stokes and Bresnan in possession of two of them and Ballance waiting to step into the other. I really can't see any way back for Tremlett and Rankin and they seem to have made up their minds about Bunny, hopeful a proper quick like Finn is given a run.

You have to question whether Swann's elbow injury played a part in his performance. On paper Lyon is not half the bowler Swann is but looked like Murali in comparison.
