Not watching, but just flicked on the score and we're 253-3 after 41 overs

The Sherminator having an absolute blinder from the looks of things, just got out for 141.

Ravi 7 off 15 at the death. What an absolute f***ing shitcunt.

After Bell got out we folded like a pack of f***ing cards. Australia will absolute piss this.

50 off the last 9 overs, shocking finish particularly from Ravi.

Anyway, we'd have taken 303 at the start, let's see how we go

Bopara 7 from 16

Those that few overs will probably cost us, gone from setting a formidable total to one the Aussies will be confident of chasing.

Watched it all, disappointed end, clutching at straws you would say the pitch got slower and trickier with the old ball, we will see how the Aussies go.

303 isn't a big score, I think it is reflection how poor we have been over the years that we were delighted to be around 300.

Bell was magnificent, Ali wasn't at the races like, he worries me slightly.

If he gets to almost 50 at around a run a ball every game I'll be pretty happy

Haven't seen it, but does look like a strange innings.

Three fours and three sixes in 48 balls, and yet a strike rate of under 100. Must have played out loads of dots.

He won't though playing like that, I am not being harsh on him, its good that he has the ability to hit a six even when not playing well, but there were 26 dot balls in there, was a strange innings. He just needs to take back a bit, he has ability, it was almost like slog or nothing

Bell was the perfect example of how to play

yeah 26 dots mate, see me comment just before, think someone just needs a word with him, trying to hit the ball too hard IMO

Good knock by Bell, little else to report. Australia will piss this.

Good to see you have faith!

Go on Finn lad, in the game now. bowling well.

Ball swinging for Finn, get Jimmy on now.

If Pietersen had come in and opened up with this, it would be heralded as a "sensible knock to get us going". Which this was by Ali. The failure was the last nine overs. "Strange" innings by Ali, aside.

Did you watch the match? It was a strange innings, he would admit that himself, he is a classy player, doesn't need to slog every ball. Stand by what I said, and it was echoed by commentators and TMS.

Yep, seen it.

Don't agree that it was strange, thought he did well to help see off the new ball and score runs where applicable.

As I mentioned on my first comment on the thread about bell opening with moeen , if either Bell/Ali bat to 30 overs we will have a decent total. Today is an example, but should have been more if not for good death bowling/poor death batting.

All about opinions, but don't think it was a poor innings.

Yeah fair enough, I never said it was poor though mate, 26 dot balls was still strange, I thought he struggled with the pace of the pitch that's all. No problem with him up there, just think he needs to hold it back slightly and trust his natural ability.

Ah well, shame we couldn't get back to back wins.

Scoring over 300 has to be a positive, don't think we've done it too many times recently?

Ian Bell with a tremendous hundred, just proving how good of a player he is and a much better pick than the slogger Hales.
