Fuck me he really is shite, he made a mess off two fairly easy through balls for runners that would have scored with better service, no doubt the media will still be wanking over the useless twat, it took Crouch to come on and show him how to do it, greasy haired useless c unt.

he is pretty one dimensional too me plus when you play with a target man the game suffers as everything is booted long, we played better after he was subbed

Andy Carroll
With the majority, the problem of 'playing with fear' that Fabio Capello identified as England's major deficiency is still there. The promising thing from Carroll's opening 70 minutes as an international is that he seemed to play exactly as he does for Newcastle each week, without the crippling fear that seems to hamper many of his colleagues. He was not particularly directly effective on this occasion, but he caused the French defence enough problems to suggest that, at the very least, he'll be a more consistently destructive big man against big teams than Peter Crouch. Here's a question though: With England so willing to hoof the ball in the direction of said big man, is it an 'outlet' that we actually want?

surely this is the most telling comment from all that you posted.

Thought he did well for a lad making his debut, plus he was asked to play up top by himself. Lots of potential, but the kid needs to sort his off the field antics out.

Townsends' wankfest over him was a bit sad, and also setting him up for a fall which is a shame for a young lad.

I wonder if one of the big clubs will take a chance on him in January or next summer because the raw talent is there to see.

You show me any player who would have shone up front for England tonight.

Lampard ........

I wonder how many of the Andy Carroll fans, on here, would welcome him and his 'style' to Sunderland .......... if Carroll is the future of English football I'd say we're actually going back to the past.

Yes, he's a good player, yes he's improving, but if he becomes the best target man in the business he's still a relic from the past.

It's like creating the best typewriter in the world in the computer age.

I agree with this like, hoofball won't work at international level any more plus the refs don't let players get away with much physical stuff.

Still a canny player at what he does mind.

 creases me up this.

The refusal of some on here to give credit where it's due is breathtaking to the point that you look a bit silly.

Take the red & white specs off for 5 minutes and look at what those in the real world are saying...

Andy Carroll 7
Showed his ability to drop deep and link the play, although it was his obvious aerial strength that most impressed, notably when he presented Gerrard with an excellent first-half chance

Andy Carroll
The only positive of the night. Did well, worked hard in providing good flick-ons. Did not look at all out of place in this company. Big future ahead. Rating: 7

Andrew Carroll 6.5
The pick of the England youngsters, the Newcastle man fed off scraps for much off the match but kept running and competing for the ball. Found the run of Gerrard on a few occasions. A small plus for England on a bad night.

For me i would like to see a bit more 'finesse' from an England striker, whether that is something Caroll can learn who knows. I have also said the same about DB to be honest. None of that stops me celebrating Bents England call ups or calling Caroll a greasy haired pikey Mag.

He is a decent footballer whether I like who he plays for or not, needs to continue learning just like Jordan..............

You're cherry picking.

That line refers to a hypothetical future situation and not Carroll's performance lasrt night, which the rest of the piece is about.

He wasn't shite (it's hard to look shite in a system built around you) but I don't want to see him play again if he encourages hoof ball football. No international team should be playing such a limited game and the Heskey situation was exactly the same.

I don't think he is.

Carroll looked decent last night (compared to most of them) primarily because the system was built around him. The problem is that that sort of system will more often than not see you taken apart at international level.

How does he encourage that like? Capello obviously prefers a more direct style of play.

I reckon most neutrals would say Carroll had a fairly reasonable debut.

I certainly suited Carroll more than Henderson last night. There was a few occasions a simple ball to Henderson should have been played when Henderson would have had time, but instead the english players played a more direct hollywood ball.

Carroll is still an utter twat though

See Spurs whenever they bring Crouch on during a game. Minute they do the entire Spurs team resorts to lumping it up to the big man, it seems instinct to players to do

the only reason Carrol looked even half decent was the hoof ball he was supplied with.

he won headers but only one went even remotely close to an england player

i appreciate he has potential but last night he was terrible

I really don't watch Spurs that much to make a comparison.

The english players need to be f***ing told to stop playing so direct. They don't do what the manager wants they don't play next game, simple.

The blame lies at Cappello and the other players not Carroll.

I hate the f***ing mags but carroll is good at what he does and is prepared to get stuck in which is what got him noticed last night.
The thing that totally pisses me off is the total anonymity of Englands midfield,
Henderson looked lost last night but so did every other English midfield player which obviously put the emphasis on carroll.

He was ok for a debut game, though I do hate the way we seem to play with defenders hoofing it up to him, bypassing the midfield. - that's why the midfield looked lost

He seemed keen and tried to run at defenders and do to much ( which got him
Noticed and means the papers will probably wank all over him) but unfortunately his actions to get himself noticed resulted in us losing possession every single time.
