Evening all. Graft this morning, funeral at 1pm. A business associate of mine but his wife is a good friend of SWMBO. As funerals go, it was a good one. Bit of live blues as we entered and the letter his daughter wrote him was a beauty.
Left to “In my life” by the Beatles. Couple of drinks at the wake a d met a very old friend in fact it was the lad who did the blues on our entry. We hadn’t spoke for nearly forty years !
Great time catching up.
We got back to our house to find my Aunty Jean had let hersel in and was having a glass of red in the garden. So, we joined her. They are still out there and I am having one for the road indoors.
Peaceful night everyone.
R.I.P. Charlie.
Evening T_Bone. Sorry to hear about your associate mate.
can still fart as good as I ever did, perhaps even better.:)
That definitely improves with age. A lifetimes practice counts for a lot. Farting is frowned upon over here, the noggies aren’t big fans apparently. Best they get used to it right quick.

Fyi when my work was linked to ‘astings council someone tried to sue them for falling over a groyne.

They failed but cost the taxpayers a few bob in sorting it out

just saying
BCP Council must have cottoned on to that as there are big waring signs everywhere telling folk to stay off the groynes and they spent a fortune on renewing loads and adding more along the coast this winter. The groynes are now much higher and go out further than previously, as well as pumping a shit load of sand off the sea bed and back onto the beach.

Besides which I have better things to do with my time than trying to sue to ratepayers of the borough.

I went to some meeting/presentation about shifting/tidal shingle ( 000’s of tons every year moves east) & groynes play an important role.

Id never thought about it til then.

In the last couple of days there’s been a major cliff fall near Seaford.

Your post made me think about all this

cheers

BCP council had a presentation about coastal erosion prior to the beach renewal programme last winter, it was really interesting. Higher flatter sand leads to a reduction of coastal erosion and along the coast here where there used to be steps down to the beach and handrails there is now sand up to the level of the promenade as well as that they have removed lots of trees and shrubs from the cliffs and covered the soil with a membrane which had been secured with large spikes to hold it in place.

The tides here are much more shallow and the waves nowhere near as powerful as those seen along the north-east coast and the council are very intent on preventing coastal erosion.
