Attendance Tonight ??

Dont talk shite, there will be mid-high 30's there tonight by the looks of it. Which is a class crowd IMHO.

And yet, if we were playing man utd, you would say that nothing less than 45k would be, to quote you, 'a class crowd'.

Then why is it when the club have made every effort, the owner has financed the moves of players we would never have seen at this club if it wasn't for him putting his own hand in his pocket, we still see crowds of mid 30k's 'class'???? When we all know that this club is capable of crowds much bigger, and we all go on about how we have 'the best support in the country'.

I don't know about anybody else, but personally i turn up to watch sunderland, because i love football and they're my local club. It doesn't bother me if we're playing everton, man utd, stoke or fukin darlington ffs. I don't care if its a monday, tuesday or fukin sunday n i don't care if its on sky, itv or fukin babestation....I'll still be there!!! And yet, for man utd on a saturday, at least 45,000 will be there, tonight we won't see anywhere near that crowd.

I know this happens at every football club in the country, n obviously there are going to be people who pick out the odd game n theyre a lot more likely to be attracted to the 'big games'. I understand that, not everybody is going to be able to have a season ticket, but 39,000 is not too much to ask for a club of this size, considering what the club has done and are clearly trying to achieve. Just my opinion, but ffs we had crowds of tht size at some championship games!!

Should be 48k, but the usual "fans" - alot of which get on here - will make their excuses etc, be lucky to get 42k.

Disgraceful for a club like us tbh, who prides itself on being some of the best supporters in the country etc., after a superb result and performance last week and with tickets being cheap as chips.

Will Short and Quinn give Bruce money to push us on further towards the elite, if a lot of our "support" don't even give enough of a shit to go, when the tickets are cheap as fuck and the team is playing mint? Shame for the rest of us who are there week-in, week-out like, regardless of how things are going. Rant Ower.

Giver ower man, we get very good crowds. We'll have another good crowd tonight. To say we should get 48k is ridiculous.

Baring in mind its on sky, its freezing , pissing down and half the people on here prefer to spend £20 on a monday night out boozing in town rather than actually going and getting behind the lads !!

The £20 for x 2 may grab a few punters in !!

Il hazard a guess at 35,000

Haway the lads

Its not that cold like

Pissing down
cold
monday night
on telly

....But above all ...The Recession .....as another (close to home) example NUFC after THAT result against us and an away win at Arsenal drew only 41.000 against Blackburn i.e. more than 10.000 down from the game against us ....and let's face it whatever else may be said about them the mags their attendances are usually good.

We are living through the worst financial crisis in all of our lives and we think it strange that attendances are down?

Fair point, but thats y i said tonight, theres no real excuse, the club have made an effort to attract supporters by lowering tickets prices to a level that is hopefully affordable for fans. If anybody still can't afford the cost of a ticket, thats fair enough, but if you go to your local boozer and spend £20 on the piss n watch it on the telly, then IMO your not the type of fan that this club needs.

When you put it like that, it's not exactly an inviting choice we're making is it!

Can't see us getting less than 37k, probably closer to 40k. I'm looking forward to it, it's time we got one over on Everton.

What an idiot!! The club needs fans, ofcourse, what i was saying is that the club doesn't need the type of fan that is in no way 'supporting' the club, we're a business ffs wether people like it or not!!! And its fair enough if you genuinely can't afford to go, or you have other priorities, but if you'd rather go to the pub, get lashed and watch it on sky then ok, but don't class yourself as a supporter, its exactly the same scenario as seeing people in a man utd shirt, and them saying "I support man utd" well no, you don't, you watch them on the telly, just the same as i do! Only difference is you cheer when they score, i don't! you are in fact in no way supporting the club, except maybe your mum buying a a piece of merchandise at xmas!!

Don't see why anyone cares what others do, I'll be there but I offered my mate the use of my season ticket so he could get 2 tickets for 20 quid, he's decided to just watch it on the tele. Totally upto him, the club get handsomely compensated by the tv companies, they can't have it both ways all the time.

I reckon the club as business wants those fans through the turnstiles then, but you don't want them there.

Why people get so worked up over others choices is beyond me.

Ofcourse i want them there!! 35,000 is a lot better than 32,000, but not quite as good as 39,000!!

N i get so worked up because do you really think that Mr Short will continually put his hand in his pocket to pay for the darren bent's, the asamoah gyan's when the club aren't matching attendances which we have previously had??

What would you be thinking if you'd backed this club with a lot of money, being led to believe that this club is a 'sleeping giant', looking back to attendances 10 year ago and seeing almost capacity crowds at every home game (Bob Murray era ffs....sorry, Sir Bob Murray era)....and now, looking at attendances of 35,000 being considered as 'class' when ticket prices have been reduced to make them affordable for fans????

we would get 50,000 if we were playing tonite. fairwether smb's.

I totally agree, there are lots of fans who have different priorities as well as SAFC, I will be in the house just in time for kick off with a cold can, baby in bed and two jack russells sat on me lap (untill we score)..however if i didnt work stupid hours of corse i would be there! next one for me west ham which will be on sky and prob draw a similar croud to tonight. Come on LADS!!!!

Maybe we are a sleeping giant, but you can count on two hands (or less) the amount of times we have averaged over 40K in our history.

For us to get anywhere over 35K on a Monday night in the middle of a recession would be fantastic, season ticket offer or not.
