Atmosphere..

Ive got a season ticket in the south stand, we were there in the 1st half but in the 2nd half we went and sat with my dad in the north stand. We actually couldn't believe the noise generated by the QPR fans in the 2nd half whereas we couldn't hear a thing from the south stand. I'm not having a pop at anyone (I'm a south stander). We were saying the south stand will be singing but you just can't hear nowt for the QPR fans, I was quite amazed but now when people in the north stand say they couldn't hear the south stand i totally agree. Quite strange cause when I'm in the south stand i always wonder how people in the north can claim they couldn't hear owt...

I was in the West Stand and never heard QPR singing once - I am completely deaf in my left ear though :-D

QPR hardly sang at all man  They never do so kingbant is obviously bullshitting.

It's amazing how away fans have miraculously become better now they've moved.

They did a hell of a lot of singing man, on and off all game. Easy to hear in the North Stand but harder to hear in the South stand. Just because you didn't hear it doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Tbf I heard them twice from the back of the South Stand. If I can hear a few hundred fans from that distance it's amazing how some people can't hear the South Stand.

I'm team standing and singing all day long but the people saying the atmosphere was great last night are living in cloud cuckoo land. It was shite.

Isn't that a term Glee fans use?

Does Team Standing have #swag?

Exactly. Plus it's amazing how away fans that have always been pathetic are all of a sudden creating a wall of noise

Whats even more amazing is people cant hear thousands singing in the south stand, but if a few hundred sing anti mag songs and every man and his dog hears it and twists about it

To do with the low roof above them amplifying the sound i'd say.

Speaking as someone who sits in the North Stand the noise even a fairly small amount of away fans up there can make is impressive and when the likes of Liverpool, Mags, Boro were up there with a full quota of fans they were extremely loud.

Do you not think it could be the case that the singing sounds louder cos you're in it?

The atmosphere in a ground is completely different depending where you're at. I don't think either party are lying, necessarily. I wouldn't take it so personally, if you sang you did your bit.

And you didn't hear the south stand?

Post 154 from me on this thread.

I sit in the North Stand and I genuinely thought the South Stand was easily the loudest it has been all season. Not a great deal to compare it with as I think the atmosphere has been quite poor most of this season (not just in the South Stand). Still, I feel it was a step forward which is surprising as I would have thought there would be a better atmosphere for the Saturday games when people have had a skinful.

QPR fans were singing most of the way through the match on and off in fairness to them.

QPR had 300 fans. Not all of those fans will have been singing. If people can hear them, the ones suggesting they can't hear the south stand are quite clearly lying. I watched the match back and the south stand sounded loud and fairly consistent especially in the first half. Only heard QPR about 4 times.

absolutely this, a chorus of field mice could sing about Pardew and his flute and some on here would hear it from Loftus road, but pro Sunderland songs...no one hears it.

can i pre book the South stand thread for after the next home game?

was going to start a new thread but can't be arsed

whats this i hear about German football crowd violence being at an all time high and there is going to be a hearing to try and ban alcohol and introduce all seater stadia

Must sya like, i sat in the north stand for the morecambe game and the away fans are much louder than they ever were when i sat in the SWC. But at the same time there was a lot of people saying they couldnt hear the south stand in the same game, they were full of shit, you can hear it loud and clear
