Atmosphere..

From my vantage point in Prem Concourse, looks like about 20/30 lads sing at back of South Stand and the rest barely bother. As per usual, the loudest chants involve singing about the stewards.

Why was sunderland till i die the loudest chant of the night?

Agreed. I was really impressed how the South Stand kept up the chanting/singing throughout the match. Great self-motivation because it couldn't have come from the pitch. Well done!

People love to jump on the band wagon slagging our fans off etc

FFS some need to look at our last 20 games

Our support is incredible

Forget him mate.

I've watched the match back on TV and the south stand was audible for most of the game. The Danny Rose chant seemed to go on for ages and was very loud, as were bouts of Haway the lads and red and white army.

Heard the fuck off you stewards chant once.

I thought the atmosphere was good, at the start it had a feeling of tonights the night we click.

Ive got a season ticket in the south stand, we were there in the 1st half but in the 2nd half we went and sat with my dad in the north stand. We actually couldn't believe the noise generated by the QPR fans in the 2nd half whereas we couldn't hear a thing from the south stand. I'm not having a pop at anyone (I'm a south stander). We were saying the south stand will be singing but you just can't hear nowt for the QPR fans, I was quite amazed but now when people in the north stand say they couldn't hear the south stand i totally agree. Quite strange cause when I'm in the south stand i always wonder how people in the north can claim they couldn't hear owt...

The atmosphere was canny in spells, but seriously, who gives a f***ing shit.
The team were diabolical and that is ALL THAT MATTERS.

canny tonight. Thoughts? ;) It was about 3 to a seat where I was stood. Was expecting to have the row to mesel tonight anarl.

Shame we didn't get the performance to match.

You think that is a canny atmosphere? Jesus christ what has happened to the Roker Roar. That was once again pathetic. Credit to lads at back of south stand non stop. We tried in SWC but no fucker would join in unless it was red n white army or sing your hearts out for the lads. Pathetic atmosphere.

Im normally critical of atmosphere generated however last night, all things considered, it wasn't a bad effort. Better than that shown on the pitch

This.

The lads who moved to the SS who keep the singing going are a big miss for the swc and should be given credit for the atmosphere they create. We kept trying to get songs going but no-one seems interesteded in singing anymore:cry:

sounded better as it seemed the stewards didn't bother pestering people in the south stand

We moved over to the East Stand 2nd half from U37 and were surprised. The South Stand also looked half empty.

I was in the East Stand towards the South Stand an it sounded canny, especially considering the team's performance. I liked the Danny Rose chant when it got going, that and the fact the pitch held up in the rain were the only positives to take from the match. Also I heard the QPR fans a few times and there were hardly any there, I think the sound does carry more from the North Upper.

The 'acoustics' of the stadium are such that are very small amount of fans in the North Upper Stand can appear very loud. The sound must hit the roof and bounce straight down to the North Lower. I walked from the South Stand to the North during the boro match and the South Stand sounded loud until I reached the half way line, at which point I struggled to hear the South Stand. As I walked towards the North Stand the away fans began to sound very loud.

I think the point is, the North Upper makes the away fans sound much louder than their numbers and chants really deserve. Even Wigan sounded quite loud at times in the north lower. QPR can only have brought a coach-load but sounded noisy at times.

I don't think the move has worked well as there is no 'banter' between rival fans as you can't really see them, they are not in close proximity and the fans more likely to engage in singing can't hear the away fans as they at opposite ends of the ground.

It has made watching from the North Stand a less enjoyable experience without a doubt. Though at least the ground looks better with the South Stand seats filled.

the usual moaning knackers on here used to say 'banter' between the fans was shite.
