Not been that impressed with Leicester the past few times I've seen them mind. Can't knock Gerrard's start but I felt they were starting to turn a corner under Smith. IMO of course ;)

Can you gain control of a ball in 1/12th of a second?
I'm only reading the rule and by the rule the ref got it right
Don’t believe he had it “under control”. However, I will say it’s the rule I find ridiculous rather than the decision.

In the same way no one wants VAR to be measuring 1/12 of a cm for an offside, no one wants 1/12 of a second proving the ref decision. I wasn’t a clear and obvious mistake (remember that’s the black and white of VAR, J-J).
It was clear. He had his hand on the ball for a fraction of a second before he had it kicked out of it. That's what VAR is for to help the ref in those split second moments

Yes mistakes by the ref, which this was.
Here’s the text regarding VAR

VAR is used only for "clear and obvious errors" or "serious missed incidents" in four match-changing situations: goals; penalty decisions; direct red-card incidents; and mistaken identity.
falls under serious missed incident leading to a goal

Pretty clear and correct decision according to the rules.
Sadly so .
Not clear nor correct according to Law 12 which states:

"A goalkeeper is considered to be in control of the ball with the hand(s) when: the ball is between the hands or between the hand and any surface (e.g. ground, own body) or by touching it with any part of the hands or arms except if the ball rebounds from the goalkeeper or the goalkeeper has made a save"

The use of the word "except" negates the previous words. If it wasnt for the word "except" & the latter part of the rule the goal shouldnt have stood but as per the rules in full the goal should have stood
