Ashes Second Test - Adelaide

Possibly yeah, but can’t for the life of me understand any good reason why somebody of Bairstow’s clear class and form has ended up batting eight!! in such a important and pivotal test.
Well I can't either.

I don't get this concentration on deciding not to bat first. Ok, it may have been a factor but the bigger ones by far were bowlers not bowling well and there's no excuse for not pitching the ball up and batters getting out.

Let the shuffling of the deckchairs begin.

Our problems aren't just down to personnel, we seem to be hopeless at transforming good county players into test cricketers, or coming up with a game plan.

Whose idea was it to bowl first? Whose idea was it to bowl short when we did?

Just seen this on Facebook.

England batting collapses in this series so far:

Brisbane:
1: 6/56
2: 6/82

Adelaide:
1: 5/95
2: 7/64

Sick of complaining about Ramprakash, but surely this is his problem to sort out?

If you think our strength for years has been the middle order Root, Stokes, Bairstow and Ali were and are a tremendous series of players .... but Stokes and lack of someone who is even reliable occasionally in the Vince position.

And bowlers are too similar paced, they need more variety.

I was hoping for better from Ball and Woakes. I think they're better bowlers than they have shown. Woakes has been bowling at 90mph before his injury.

And whoever said Woakes is an all-rounder - he looks completely out of his depth with a bat and overall he's a step down from Bresnan.

If England are going to get anywhere they need to take red ball cricket more serious during the English season .... for a start playing games on the Summer would help and fewer in spring and Autumn.

Oh yea. People are still underestimating Lyon and Starc and Cummings are better than any we have.
It's ok being an "all-rounder" against the trundling seam attacks in test cricket, but when they face a genuine quality attack their techniques get exposed.

Root still sticking to the crap it was right to bowl.

Your inability to convert has impacted us in both games.

Moeen has been weak as fuck and should not be coming in ahead of bairsrow.

Get Vince gone, root into 3, malan down to 7 and stokes in. Wood if he’s fit.

5-0 is happening get Bayliss and the selectors binned.

Stokes won’t play, even if Root and Bayliss wanted him too. It’s out of their hands. Both Moeen and Bairstow should be batting higher.

I’d change it up and go:

Rocky
Chef
Root
Bairstow
Ballance
Moeen
Malan
Woakes
Overton
Broad
Anderson

That attack won't take 20 wickets. Wood played well for the lions today I think they'll take a gamble on him

You reckon? Perth’s a different kettle of fish.

I wouldn’t be against Wood coming back, but prior to today he hasn’t been doing anything special.

i'd drop Malan purely because Lyon has the left handers on toast. Bairstow has to be moved up the order

Ballance? Surely it is proven he is a County plodder?
Ozzies would make mincemeat of him.
Plus he always looks like he is trying to force out a massive shit.

Vince has to be dropped. Root won't bat 3. No way can you take the gauntlets off Bairstow.

Woke up at 4.30, checked the score on my phone, went back to bed. So predictable.

All goes back to our first innings scores - you need to be scoring 400 minimum (first innings) in Australia to give yourself a good chance and we're simply not good enough to do that. Bowling first was a shocker of a decision too, you can bet Root didn't come up with that by himself so it proves the coaches are clueless too. Short term, I'd bin Vince, get Foakes in as wicket-keeper, Root up to 3 and Bairstow in at 4. Bit drastic maybe but fuck it, we need to do something or another 5-0 is definitely on the cards.

No idea what to do for the next test. Ali clearly isn't fit. Don't know what is up, but he's miles away from form. Problem is, our over reliance on all rounders means we can't afford to lose him and his 30.50 average. Bairstow and Root have to move up the order. Can we bring Stokes in? I don't think so. Nothing has changed and he'd be in a hiding to nothing. What other options? wood? Crane? Does Ali get in the side as a batsman only? What a shit f***ing squad the selectors have picked.....

FWIW

Is Broad still worth his place?
