Since 2015 Smith has scored more runs in any Ashes tests over a 4 year period other than Bradman and he could surpass that today.

My point is that his career average, especially against England, is not remotely useful in gauging the player he has become in that time, because in the space of that 4 years he has vastly superseded his previous form.
