Asda and Morrisons rationing fruit and Veg

Exactly. I’m off to as another is surfacing killing a good thread. Catch you later marra.
A good thread? It's a thread about food shortages ffs, not a reminisce about our favourite SAFC games or which night clubs we went to back in the day 🤦‍♂️

Er, not quite sure I should post this after reading the last few pages of this thread. But……….

Asda Metrocentre tonight
No tomatoes. Like none. Tinned available but a bit sloppy in yer sandwich.
Only one small bag of those fancy small peppers. No others.
Cucumbers the size of gherkins 75p

The shortages - which are affecting Ireland too - are largely the result of extreme weather in Spain and north Africa, where floods, snow and hail have affected harvests

Funny how the BBC are reporting it as partly down to extreme weather in Spain and North Africa.

Funny as they said it was largely down to Spain and North Africa 🤦🤷

The UK always looks for someone else to blame.

Bet Moneymakers one. Loads and loads of fruit. Alicante anarl.
You are right on the moneymaker but they lack a bit of flavour. I like Alisa Craig. Good old gardeners delight is a heavy cropper too. I brought 3 different types of Italian toms back from Sorrento in 2018 and they were great . May see if they take again this year as I still have some seeds.

What Italian ones did you try?

Had a go at a couple of the really large ones, and the fruit I got was superb, but not exactly prolific.

Mrs likes Salad Caprese and works best with the big beefsteak fellas.

One for the gardening thread this. 👍👍👍
As a layman type, just testing this all out, I'm amazed but looks like the rosemary and thyme and the Parsley have survived being left outside through the seasons. The pepper plant looks wasted but there are a few shoots coming through in the soil . of course could be anything time will tell. Love it.

I will look on the packets tomorrow.

Done well for Parsley to get through mind.
Be surprised if the pepper does owt though. Only do them in the greenhouse from seed in pots every year.

Cheers, couldn't believe it. First time checked since last year, upright as hell the rosemary and thyme.

A come back? They're as popular as ever and most have waiting lists. Our polly tunnels will be bursting over the summer with the good stuff.

Always seemed to be more when I was a youngun. I guess the reason why so many waiting lists as there are not many about.
