Arsenal Fan Claims Leicester City Are Possible Drug Cheats!

Not quite sure i understand where you're going with this one mate. Taking performance enhancing drugs WILL make you perform better physically and recover quicker but as Burnley proved by being fitter and working harder than every opponent it only gets you so far......in their case, the Championship. I'd argue that NO performance enhancing drugs could explain Leicester's improvement. Surely the most logical reason is that a "perfect storm" of factors combined at exactly the same time.....ie they recruited extremely well and those players are now being recognised as very good players.......they also recruited players with "character", a bit like a certain Brian Clough did many years ago. They've had no distractions from the league this season which helps recovery between games......and it has to be said that the big clubs imploding this season allied to the rest of the PL being largely very mediocre left an opportunity for a well organised, highly motivated team to fill the void. Don't forget some of their early performances were a bit shoddy and they rode their luck massively at times......but those results forged self-belief and that is by far and away the most valuable asset they have.

Ill try to explain as I'm aware I often don't make sense.

Doping keeps you free from fatigue, a 100% of your ability throughout the entire match if you will.

Burnley were most likely very fit but suffered from a lot of fatigue due to running so much. So there skills and mental awareness suffered badly.

A team who were doping would not have to run around more than the other team to have a huge advantage, they would pass, tackle and shoot to the best of there ability all whilst the opposition becomes far less effective through fatigue.

Most importantly they would be 100% mentally aware due to not being fatigued, and there decision making and awareness would not drop.

Probably all bollocks mind but that's the way I see it.

That's fair enough as an explanation but do we now surmise that Leicester have some kind of mad scientist administering these drugs en masse to the players without their knowledge. IF your hypothesis is true then Leicester players will have noted this during games and talked about it to each other. They'll have been aware of the rules regarding using performance-enhancing drugs and fully aware that the buck stops with them as individuals and not the mad scientist administering them. So, IF they knew they were possibly taking banned substances it's been an amazingly closely guarded secret by a couple of dozen players and IF they didn't know then surely one or two would be questioning just why they felt so good and so strong this season.

They may well be taking something which works but isn't banned and if they are then fair play to them for finding an edge which helps but doesn't compromise them legally.

A few points.....Leicester's workrate against us was nothing exceptional.......we just about matched them and i'd argue that they have a few players who are naturally more athletic than ours, and a lot of other clubs come to that. Secondly, they have had a season with very few other distractions.....no European football and out of cup competitions early.....this means they can give absolutely 100% every game knowing they have a decent recuperation period before the next game. Finally, if it was all about using drugs to enhance performance how do you explain Burnley covering more miles than their opponents in EVERY single game last season but still getting relegated.

Instead of looking for conspiracy theories regarding Leicester every fan of an ordinary club should be absolutely rejoicing at their success and every owner/BOD/manager/coaches/scouts of these clubs should be taking a f***ing good hard look at themselves for setting targets that start and end with survival in the PL.
I'm not looking for conspiracy theories. I think that it goes on in football just like in all other professional, and indeed amateur, sport.

If for instance Ranieri or some other member of the team had introduced this as a training aid, it may be one way to explain their dramatic upturn in fortunes.

Leicester may or have increased the time they can train and their recovery periods through perfectly legitimate means. Bale and Ronaldo may have suddenly gone from skinny players to massive beefcakes at Real just through the use of different training methods and the sudden heart attacks of all those players in the early 21st Century, although eerily similar to what happened in cycling in the late 80s and early nineties, may have been because they all had undiagnosed heart defects that all came to light at the same time.

That may all be true and I have no real reason to believe otherwise, other than the fact that historically, most superhuman performances have at some point come to light as being the result of illegal training aids.

What is certainly not true is that PEDS wouldn't benefit footballers in the same way as any other athlete or that, given the relatively lax testing regimes and the rewards at stake, the sport should be considered completely clean.

All very bizarre I admit but im positive that the likes of Albrighton & Morgan don't become Premier League winners over night. Or at least its never happened before.

It's a perfect storm as far as fortune goes mind. Very rarely injured, coming back ridiculously quickly, and able to go at full pelt for 90 minutes and more every single week, players proven to be less than top quality at several clubs suddenly being world beaters. Too many coincidences. Our run of virtually zero injuries in the Di Canio/Poyet season was seen as a freak occurrence (Wes Brown was fit for a whole season) but we've got three or four freak occurences all at the same time here.

I'd like to think it's a victory for the little guy, that we could all do it if we planned and prepared properly. I think everyone who supports a non PL brand team would.

I'd like to, so I think it needs to be looked at in more detail.

Oh but it has......

Colin Barret, Larry Lloyd, Kenny Burns, Frank Clark, Ian Bowyer, John McGovern, John Robertson, Gary Birtles, Tony Woodcock......

We actually signed Ian Bowyer from Forest and older fans will back me up in stating that he was f***ing rank during his spell here...

There was GAA player on the radio talking being giving a 'green drink' to keep hydrated during games. Non of them knew what it was but they were told that the sports science people knew what it was and they said it was fine. He's now having doubts about what this drink was. Would any of us doubt our doctors?

Chelsea are one of the teams rumoured to be taken PEDs. They ran away with the league but this season they were in danger of going down for a large part of the season. It's suspicious that this down turn coincided with the sacking of two of the club doctors.

People keep mentioning Burnley. Burnley has a great work rate. But ultimately they fell short. By the end of the season it was taken it's toll and they couldn't keep it up. They picked up a few injuries along the way.

There's no evidence to say Leicester, Chelsea or Burnley are using PEDs but if people think it isn't happening in football need to give their heads a shake. The game is corrupt from top to bottom.

Granted the quality still has to be there.

I did think this would be mentioned but in my opinion its completely incomparable. Football is unrecognizable from 10 years ago let alone how long ago that was. The amount of money and influx from abroad, sports science etc. I think this is a an occurrence that cannot be compared in football.

Probs a daft question but who are GAA?

Look, maybes there is doping. Maybes it's all a huge scandal waiting to break which just needs a journo or police or whatever to get some evidence of.

But until that point, it's all just guessing isn't it? Like, there's no record of doping ever having SUCH a big affect on football ability. And there work rate stats aren't all that, they're about midtable, so that doesn't add into the myth.

So at the minute all we have is a bunch of fans guessing they've been naughty, in of season to me sense of the pretty remarkable and unfathomable improvement. It's nothing more than a guess based in bitterness.

Maybes they are cheats. But until it's proved the are (or until there's a credible suggestion outside of football forums) then they're fine in my book

Why do people have to be perceived as being bitter by merely questioning? I'm not bitter at all. I just think their meteoric rise was so unpredictable it almost seems too good to be true.

Who's to say it wasn't a last ditch attempt to keep them in the league last season. It worked so it continued into this season? Even their survival was remarkable.

Gaelic Athletic Association. He was a Gaelic footballer. I should have just said that.

But it's an amateur sport that doesn't have anything near the financial rewards of the PL. If teams in that sport are willing to experiment with certain things then why wouldn't a PL team?

It's no different mate.......performance enhancing drugs have been around for a very long time......here's an extract from a document about PED's...

"By the 1970s the use of performance-enhancing drugs had reached epidemic proportions among elite athletes. It was widely known that there were whole national sports programs whose success was based largely on sophisticated doping techniques, but scientists lacked the tools to prove what was going on"

http://www.encyclopedia.com/topic/Performance-Enhancing_Drugs.aspx

It's almost a dead ringer for the Clough phenomenon......a disparate bunch of players brought together to achieve unparalleled success because the whole was greater than the sum of the parts. Or do we assume Forest were also doping at that time.

Even their survival was remarkable.

No more remarkable than us ending Mourinho's 77 game unbeaten run at home in the league at Chelsea or then going to Man U and passing like Barcelona. We were 1/10 with the bookies to go down (I know that because I laid those odds and made a few quid when we stopped up. Were we doping?

I wasn't about at the time so obviously you would be in a far better position to judge. My point was more about the standard of athletes from around the world as opposed to if they were doping back then.

Players get tested after every game
No doubt Leicester's players have been tested more than normal for their season. Mind you, to be as fit as they are it is suspicious
I don't think they do. It's a random test, otherwise they would work out the time lines and adjust things round that

hahahaha, players get tested after every game - pull the other one its got bells on

2014/15 - number of samples collected 2286

pathetic

What? Has there been any example of doping in sport in the last 30 years where a team of sports professionals have been doped without their consent? Very, very unlikely imo and nowhere near as plausible as the idea that a few things have come together to allow Leicester to perform so well, drugs excluded.

yes, there has been..normally with the team doc going 'take these iron shots / vitamin shots / insert excuse here'

take the blinkers off, if its professional sport then drugs are involved somewhere
